Lest we take our eyes off the ball, I'm going to create three threads about the three main upcoming town meeting issues.

NO MAYOR FOR WAREHAM!  Don't let them take away your right to speak up and be a part of town meeting!  Fight to keep town meeting!  Don't let them change our whole system of government just to line their pockets!  NO MAYOR FOR WAREHAM!

Post your thoughts about how turning Wareham into a Mayoralty stinks big time below.

In the Charter Review statements, they assert that we'll have 16% representation, rather than 1-2% currently. Bad math. Aside from other problems I have with this statement, how is NOT having a say at town meeting better than having NO representation if I disagree with my Councilman?

Also, they always make it sound as if Wareham has "grown up" and is ready for this change. They make a comparison to the formation of America! Really? And this is an apt analogy, why? Maybe, they had a few other considerations at that time.

They also say, (paraphrased) "yeah, there's gonna be a few more full-time salaries, but it'll be better, really."

NO MAYOR

Wanna have some Saturday night fun?!? Just pour yourself a tumbler, goblet, whatever,of your favorite liquid, and go to Google and punch in two words: "mayor" and "corruption"....and stand back so you don't get buried in the landslide of entries.

What is one of the reasons this Charter Review Committee sites as need for a change in government?

"...but conflict and confusion arise because the BOS is constrained from handling day-to-day affairs. In addition, there are those who feel excluded from representation."

---So, the BOS need more control, and losing our voice at Town Meetings will increase our representation. Is that what your saying?

pshooter.. if my district rep and i dont agree they will not be representing me.. if my "at large" council person doesnt agree with me i still have no representation.. at least now i have town meeting and while it is only 1 vote it is my vote..and that shouldnt be taken away by the CRC...

I have yet to figure out how they complain that town meeting doesn't provide enough representation because only a few hundred people show up...but there solution for more representation is to replace a few hundred people, and openness to anyone who wants to come...replacing that with 11 people.

What provides more representation?  Town meeting, a few hundred people show up and entry is to everyone, or city council  - 11 people and that's it.

The big difference is this: Wareham has an OPEN TOWN MEETING form of government.
OPEN to everyone that is a voter.
Can you imagine the Chinese cluster **** that will take place if ELEVEN representatives are voted in?
OPEN TOWN MEETING!!

Hey PShooter,

No problem, we keep getting distracted with Bobo the Sideshow, but as September comes to a close, we need to get focused on town meeting, so that's why I bumped these up.  The more info you add the better.

On the toons, good question.  I'm working on a grand slam "Season One Finale" of Sweet Brucey and Friends.  It's going to be big, such that I need to secure a hide-out somewhere in the mountains of Argentina until the fallout blows over.

Let's hope the Sox are closing in on a trophy about the same time we're taking TM.

I went through and watched all the old toons. They're all good. But, I think my favorite was Cronie & Jane. It must have been right after the exec session came out, and was just before I came to this site, so I hadn't seen it. Heck, enough talk. I'm going to add it here. Great stuff, thanks.

Sweet Brucey and Friends - Episode 3 - You Dirty Rat, See?

Sweet Brucey's pals, Lil' Janey and Lil' Cronie try to rehabilitate the BOS' image by re-recording the "infamous six minutes."

DISCLAIMER: No, I'm not actually saying they did try to re-record the infamous six minutes.  Come on, it's just a parody cartoon, see?

Glad you liked it, Shooter!  Bobo and Sweet Brucey seemed to have dominated Season One.  Season Two is going to have to pay more attention to Sweet Brucey's "Friends."

"Even if I obtained a forklift or other professional movement device, I still wouldn't be able to move Simmons and Gifford any significant distance in order to symbolize a high level of trust in them."  Hehe, it's pretty bad when you make yourself laugh.
