Ironic...you can't even recall two votes :).

What a kick in the ass on the way out.

Donahue because you pointed out her husband is incompetent, and Brenda because you called her a drunk.

"Let's really screw the Town on the way out."

"OK!!!"

The Boston Herald reported the following last month:

City of Boston
Police Commissioner Edward Davis

Annual salary:   $171,468

Do you think that the Police chief in Wareham should be paid a salary within 4-7% of the COMMISSIONER OF POLICE FOR THE CITY OF BOSTON ?????????????????

In case you forgot, the City of Boston has roughly 10 % of the total population of the State. And, while the population of the Town of Wareham spikes upward during the summer, the population of the City of Boston spikes HUGELY upward EVERY day, including weekends. and on, and on, and on.

There is no way that these two jobs are that close in compensation. NFW.

The driving force here is the Stanley pension issue. The Town of Wareham is going to pay him, out of YOUR tax dollars, to make up for his inability to get his spiking ploy by the two retirement boards. So, the salary does the job that spiking cannot do under the new rules.

And, you get to pay. Pay now. Pay later. and pay, and pay, and pay..........

SERIOUSLY....call him right now...call his friends and associates and ask them to call him right now...RIGHT NOW...if he is inundated with phone calls, his vote will change.

Walter is a businessman and someone who might want to run for something else someday... State Rep?...

He is also an available Selectman and needs to hear from you...

Wouldn't it be prudent to FIRST check if this is true? If it is, by all means, make the call. If it is just a rumor, then I suggest checking to find out where the rumor orginated. Walter seems like a reasonable man with a good head on his shoulders. I just can't see him making this type of a move.

Good suggestion, Larry; but, where better to find out the truth or fiction of this than the members of the BoS?

Meanwhile. If you don't like my Wareham v. Boston comparison, perhaps these examples from the SouthCoast might be your cup o' tea.

1. Fall River, 2010.

Chief John Souza retires after 30 years, salary $133,506.
New Chief is Daniel Racine, salary $133,000.

2. New Bedford. Current Chief Ronald teachman at $137,989

3. Dartmouth, 2010

New chief Timothy Lee hired at $120,000.

Seems to be a pattern there, no? What justifies jumping $30-45,000 ABOVE these salaries ????????????????

Are the police issues in Wareham that much higher than Fall River ??  New Bedford ?????

What justifies such a higher salary level as compared to (population 34,000 +/- v. Wareham 20-22,000) Dartmouth?

There is a BoS meeting tonight. there is citizen participation.......

Everybody hold on...calls are being made. We will know soon.

I do not believe that Walter Cruz would vote for this nonsense...

Time for this group of selectmen to wake up, send this chief packing.  A few of us that have been following this drama unfold (and some that have not) started discussing this issues over our morning coffee/politics session.  One of our cronies made the comment that the chief may have overrun his budget, could this be true?  Its time we start demanding this town administrator to address these rumors without a song and dance.

I understand there will only be three Selectmen present next week for their meeting.

Steve Holmes and Walter Cruz will not be there.

Now...you don't suppose that the two outgoing Selectmen, for the "benefit" and the "future" of Wareham would vote to make the deal, do you?

Three is a quorum...two to one...done deal...

I don't believe that either lady will feel inner remorse for it, and will outwardly state that they tried to do what is best on their way out.

Their two anointed candidates can forget their futures...but...whatever is best for the Town.
