I don't think the idea of slager having a reason to be at the senior center very funny at all. He can use this as an excuse to hang around the center and brainwash the seniors.
The seniors are not dumb, but anyone hammered with only one side of an issue can be brainwashed.

It gets worse.
The World's Worst Writer just put up a report about how he'll be conducting a 6 week workshop in March (for people of all ages, not just seniors) on writing (insert joke here) charging $60 per person.
Ladies and Gentlemen, let's think about this for a moment:
1) A class like this probably takes a month to put together
2) One month ago, the World's Worst Writer announced that his rag would go back into print in March
3) A month after that announcement, we learn World's Worst Writer will be teaching writing on Wareham town property at $60 a pop.
4) Oddly, an event at a Senior Center is open to non-seniors, you know, just in case some young people want to give him some money.
5) The class will begin in March.
6) The rag will go back into print in March...you know, "coincidentally" when people pay their $60.
I submit to you all that what will most likely happen is that all of the tin hats will sign up and pay their $60 and then that money will be used to fund a rag reprint in the month leading up to election day.
I have to apologize to the Hypocrite Elite. I always thought they were brainless incompetent dullards. But I have to hand it to them - they have figured out a way to fund their favorite hate rag during election season using a department of the Town of Wareham.

Darn it, Peter beat me to it. You'd really think that a guy who is teaching a class in writing at the Council on Aging would know how to spell "Council on Aging."
Oh Great Writing Teacher Bobo, sorry to correct you but it is "Council" and not "Counsel." A "council" is a board of advisors, such as a Council on Aging. A Counsel is what someone gets when they are sued. Don't you know that since you've been sued twice for defamation?
There should be some kind of discount for people who notice errors in the writing teacher's press releases. Anyone who notices any errors gets to take it for $30 instead of $60.
(Be sure to check this out soon, I'm sure he'll correct the mistakes and pretend like they never happened).

BoBo wrote" "I can't wait to begin."
but BoBo, you are already hip deep in the Big Muddy. Who else would be creative enuf to describe his 25-year meandering thru the fetid swamp of his worklife as a "career"?
Please let me correct one poster, in fairness to his BoBoness. BoBo was taken to task for his phrase 'Counsel on Aging". I have it on good authority (i.e. his own writings), that this qualifies as a true Freudian slip, or parapraxis as the psycho-babble bullshit artists would call it. You see, the BoBo recognizes his need for counseling, and that's a good thing, is it not? It was weighing on his space which formerly housed a mind, and..well, you can see what happened.
Totally unfair. IMO.
but then, perhaps BoBo can redeem himself by describing the differences between & among the following words:
SITE. SIGHT. CITE.
A recent article revealed a lack of understanding by the BoBo of these sound-alikes. Here's a second chance, BoBo: Use each of the cited (oh, damn! - gave it away) words in a sentence.
You know, I was contemplating a retirement gig as a teacher of English as a Second Language (ESL). Perhaps, I could make myself available to BoBo as a teacher of English as a First Language (EFL). But, what to charge? Oh, dear. Wait! Got it! $60.00 per hour.
All major credit cards accepted, with proper ID.

Well. Ok....except for the "I'll try harder" part.
I have it on good authority (his own body of work) that trying harder is inconsistent with the goals of the "Halifax Hacks School of Writing". MORE spelling errors. Multiple shortcuts. MORE lies. Misleading analysis. Incorrect conclusions. And above all, an all-encompassing slant to all screeds.
These all require less effort, a disinterest (or even uninterest) in the consequences of your words, and a total lack of any standards of quality.
Yes, my friend, There is less for you to do. Have a couple of beers instead. Make that many beers. Then, you will be properly situated for classes at the HHSW.

There are many troubling ethical implications here, but perhaps the biggest one is that a town official, aka Marcia has basically arranged a situation to occur in which a person that claims to be a "reporter" will reap a personal financial benefit (and at $60 a person, quite a hefty one - isn't that a bit high for an informal senior center class?).
I imagine that he'll be beholden to that town official and will have to avoid writing criticism of her in the future if he wants to keep teaching the class and continue to benefit financially. If he writes anything negative about her, he'll lose a new source of bread and butter.
Actually, since the TA has the power to step in and put a stop to it at any time, he'll have to avoid writing anything that cheeses him off too.
Quite an appearance of impropriety if you ask me.

"I AM HONORED THAT MARCIA AGREED TO ALLOW ME TO SHARE WHAT I HAVE LEARNED...........BLAH, BLAH.........."
Does Slager mean that he approached Marcia with the idea and she approved it?
Does Slager mean that someone else approached Marcia with this idea?
Just wondering.
I also note the price of $60 per person for six classes. The part that I question is that "FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IS AVAILABLE FOR QUALIFIED SENIOR CITIZENS THROUGH THE COA". Are we to assume that the Town of Wareham, from the COA's budget will be paying for some of the cost?
Just wondering.
I put the cart before the horse. I just read WW's article and it and the blogs on the online version answered my questions. I'm still not very happy about this, however. Over the years assorted classes (knitting, crafts, etc.) have been offered for the seniors but I have no idea if there was a fee involved. It is very upsetting to see this man back in Wareham under any circumstances. Oh, and I don't believe Andrea's explanation either.

Marcia mentions one thing in the news and another in the office. She talked about a father with a baby that needed a blanket and helped him. But in the office she berated him for poor parenting skills not having a blanket for the child. She asks foe help from other offices in the building and then puts them down as be the riff raff of the building and the worth thing in town. The Career Center is a leas payer to the town and she wants them out. The are paying the town to be there and many businesses use them to fill vacancies. They are part of the Economic development of the town and She is trying to drive them out behind the shines . She would not say that to the media but it is what she tells others. Myself for one. She is most likely going crasey trying to figure out who I am first time here I sit near her every day and drives me nuts. I don’t like slager either for many obvious reasons.
