Does anyone know if it is true that there is something like 3 million in back taxes that the town is due? How did it get that high? Who is responsible for collecting these taxes or taking the homes so they can be auctioned off, or work out some kind of payment schedule with the owners? I see a lot of homes around Wareham and Onset that seemed to be abandoned. If you look on the assessor web site some of these homes have continually sold to family members for a dollar, most of the owners live out of town and they allow the homes to fall apart.
