Whoops, they did it again..Apparently if you're a political rival of Lawrence's Mayor Lantigua (who's cleaning the mess of the previous Mayor)..then there's a job waiting for you in Wareham..

LAWRENCE - City councilors gave new Mayor William Lantigua half of what he wanted, voting last night to uphold the firing of Inspectional Services Commissioner Myles Burke...

Mr. Burke was hired last Tuesday...his "introduction" starts at 5:20 of the video (above).

The North Shore seems to be invading Wareham, this is our best candidate for the job???
I just have to add, after reading that article and all of the comments, that is exactly why I will never, never, never, never EVER support a Mayoral form of government, spread the word, turn down the CRC's plan to undermine town government!!!!

Lawrence castoffs...Andrews and now Burke..Got a buddy? Got a job..
Globe correspondents made dozens of calls and sent two public record requests to the Lawrence Board of Health over the course of two months before being directed to the city attorney, Charles Boddy. Messages for Boddy went unreturned. When correspondents arrived at the Lawrence Inspectional Services Department in pursuit of records, they were directed to Commissioner Myles Burke, who was unavailable and subsequently failed to return several messages...

LAWRENCE - The mayor's chief of staff Myles Burke will become acting inspectional services director in January in what could be the first of several high profile administrative changes Mayor Michael Sullivan is expected to announce by year's end.
Burke, 50, a childhood friend and longtime political confidant of the mayor, confirmed yesterday he will replace Inspectional Services Commissioner Caroline Ganley, who plans to leave at the end of the month...

So we now have a Director of Inspectional Services who doesn't appear to be licensed as either a Local Building Inspector or Inspector of Buildings/Building Commissioner:
http://www.mass.gov/Eeops/docs/dps/inf/ … icials.pdf
What the hell? How can they justify hiring someone without any license to conduct inspections, especially in a town this size?
As an example, Quincy has a senior man with the Inspector of Buildings/Building Commissioner certification, and four Local Building Inspectors. Yet even with all those people available to perform inspections, their Director of Inspectional Services possesses the Inspector of Buildings/Building Commissioner certification, and he handles the more complicated matters when the senior man is on vacation.
That's called proper planning and staffing with an eye towards versatility to handle personnel issues and contingencies. And the flip side of that is Wareham, where if something happens to Jay Collins we're out of luck until a replacement can be found. Brilliant!

Thanks P-SPAN. Mr. Burke gave himself a raving revue. Does anyone know who the other candidates were? Who are the members of the screening committee? After reading the articles posted above I get the feeling that this man is going to be unreachable, as Sir Brucie and the rest of the BOS and TA have been when we asked questions, sent emails and letters as I have done, with no replies.
Looks like they were trying to slide us into the City of Wareham before the election. Slick.
