there is a lot of back & forth over el BoBo and his propensity for lying about, oh, nearly everything. Generally , i stay away from that, but his comments following a posting by Larry M. in the Wareham Week "really ground my gears" (Family guy).
First, let me renew my objection to his competitors' strange habit of allowing him to run loose in their comments sections of their own websites. Very odd. The Courier, no doubt, feels a reluctant kinship to the horrid thing they spawned, aka "Rob". but, what's up with the new kids on the block? Didn't he disparage their name (Wareham Weakly), and yet they allow him free rein? And spare me BoBo, this NOT a First Amendment issue: there is no "right" to yap on someone's private site. You are always free to stand on a soapbox outside Town Hall and spew out your nonsense as the 'Homer" sportscaster for your pals on the BoS, as well as the Town Misfit, curley the stooge.
Second. Let's look at his comments, contradictory as they are.
1. "the IG's investigation is targeting specific credible allegations that go far beyond computer usage." Whoa, Nelly! 'credible' allegations by whom? The computers were copied, the disks went to the DA, the DA made them available for return to the Town, and then turned info over to the IG. Where are the 'credible' allegations in all that? And if the DA's office turned over to the IG stuff from their Grand Jury investigation into the computer data, how does that translate into "far beyond" computer usage.
2. "The IG would not be interested....in general computer misuse, such as ...private business....porn....gambling." Well, weren't those precisely some of the reasons that the so-called computer audittook place? is el BoBo now contradicting his benefactor, sweet Brucie?
3. "looking into potential felonies": What? they are investigating felonies which have yet to occur? Remember, the DA & the Grand Jury offered up NO indictments. None. What? they are too stupid at the County level to recognize a felony? doncha think that a felonious act might have triggered something, at least a nasty note?
4. After a sentence which makes no sense at all (not too surprising), el BoBo writes "the IG would be notified if anything more was revealed during the computer audit" Hello, McFly! The DA has already turned over its investigation to the IG, What's left?
5. And then more drivel, concluding with the following" 'the IG's investigation and the Town's computer audit must be conducted concurrently'". Says who?
6. I urge you all to visit the IG's website at www.mass.gov. There is very little in their verbiage that supports any of the BoBoslime crapadola. they clearly state that their mission is to prevent fraud, waste and abuse. The two areas of primary concern, based on their website, are procurement issues and chapter 40B issues. And, there is not very much regarding the investigation of felonies. they note that they work with the state Attorney General and other law enforcement agencies. So. Where is the involvement of these other law enforcement agencies, BoBo? the DA has moved on, without indictments, no word regarding the AG, the Federal Justice Department, or even Buford Pusser.
Procurement? Did the BoS follow the rules in procuring a firm to conduct the computer audit? and did you catch that thigh-slapper during Brucie's halting reading of the letter from the captive attorney, that early this year they considered changing firms, part of the reason for the delay in retrieving the disks from the DA. No wonder Brucie was having trouble reading aloud, even HE was having trouble swallowing that one.
Chapter 40B: the town is required to perform audits on completed projects to determine if the developers followed the rules on profit limitations. This may be a legitimate course to pursue; BUT, how does that justify an all-encompassing computer audit to the tune of $58,000 and rising? And, no felonies there.
there is one item on the list of six reasons the BoS cited for the computer audit that gives me pause. That is the possibility that someone used a Town Computer to harass another Town employee. I will have no tolerance for that, and would concur with whatever is the appropriate action in that case.
As for the rest, from the BoS and their wimpy justification for initiating this nearly one year ago, thru to the whiney rationalizations of el BoBo in support of his pals; the whole thing fails the smell test. Sad. sad, sad.
