WAREHAM WINNERS
KICK OFF PARADE
Wareham, Massachusetts. On Saturday, March 20, 2010, starting from Besse Park at 10:00AM and continuing through Main Street to Town Hall, the public is invited to a parade for a town-wide celebration that will feature the Wareham High School Boys Basketball Team—winners of the State Division 3 State Championship.
The Team—Dwight Senna, Sheldon Frye, Darren Gray, Mike Mendes, Pat Murphy, Dylan Marcal, Ryan Pina, Jules Tavares, Jordan Rezendes, Marcus Gomes, Nikko Vasconcellos, Darien Fernandez, Jeff Houde, Harry Irving, Jowaun Gamble—will lead the parade and be joined by their Coach, Kevin Brogioli and others.
A caravan featuring local businesses, including a flatbed float from A.D. Makepeace, will include municipal departments.
Bruce D. Sauvageau, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, stated: “The groundswell of support in this important state Championship victory has been tremendous. I want to thank each and every resident and business for their outpouring of support.”
John Cronan, Clerk of the Board of Selectmen, went on to say: “We are champions and the community has proven once again that the together we can make a difference.”
All media outlets in SouthCoast region have been informed of and invited to come to Wareham to help celebrate this important event.
Selectman Brenda Eckstrom offered the following: “Our Team proved that hard work pays off and the entire Team is to be congratulated.”
Selectman Walter Cruz Sr. said: “I encourage all residents to come out and celebrate this tremendous victory.”
Wareham residents are drawing together to enjoy this first-ever State Championship. All residents, even those without children in the school system, are filled with pride. This parade will provide them the ideal opportunity to show the Team how proud the community is, and how much the Wareham Vikings are appreciated.
Selectman Jane Donahue says,” Our Boys Basketball Team victory and solid community-wide support will make this parade a huge success.”
