Peaceful Greetings, Peaceniks!




Ham of Peace here.  Peace Bloggers, as you all know, our selectmens' feelings are a little...oh, how to put it diplomatically?  They're a little fragile.  I know, I know, if you're in politics you need a thick skin but our selectmen...well, you just need to be careful not to hurt their feelings.  I've been trying to treat them as delicately as I would say, a dainty flower.

Anyhow, Finance Committee Member Marilyn Donahue wrote an eloquent letter to the editor, a peaceful response to Brenda's unpeaceful letter last week.  It's in the paper Courier, though the Courier site doesn't seem to have it up yet.

Now, what I'm going to talk about here was only a brief mention in this letter, but it struck me enough that I need to post it. 

Donahue puts the legal fees related to the computer audit in this letter at $59,000.

Now, if you factor in that the Consumer of Grain Based Treats put the cost of the audit itself at $30,000...

Well, that's 89,000, we'll call it a cool $90,000!

So at the very least, we know that the anti-blogger witchhunt cost this town at least $90,000 of your hard earned taxpayer dollars...and it would not surprise me if it was even more than that.  We may never know the exact price tag.

How many town employees lost their jobs so the selectmen could try to find out who was hurting their feelings?

You know, peace bloggers...these people spent $90,000 and counting just to try to silence us...I don't know about you all...but I don't know whether to be outraged or flattered.
