Dear Fellow Bloggers,

Embracing the new goal of peaceful yet thoughtful dialogue that people have been asking for, I just want you to know that I will absolutely not make any jokes about how the tin hat squad stated that Matt Damon should play Bobo in a movie about Bobo.

Yes, the jokes with such a claim write themselves.  Yes, I have thought up many jokes about this in my head already.  No, I won't share any of them with you.

For I am now a Ham of Peace.

Just wanted you all to know.

(But if they keep saying stuff like that, this peace stuff is going to be hard).

It'll take some getting use to but I'll try.

Ham of Peace, Peace Hambassador, call it what you will, all I know is I shall bite my tongue and for the sake of the peace movement, I shall absolutely not crack any of 1,073 jokes that poured into my head the instant I read those words.

Ham  -  peace be with you, my son.

Damon? no. Perhaps Damien. He was a devilish sort. that's a good omen.

Maybe jason alexander  --  hasn't had a good role since 'george'.

Yes, my friends, my fellow travelers on the road to peace, as Official Peace Hambassador, I will not make any jokes at all about the fact that Bobo's pals have stated that this man:

...should play this man:

Oh, the sacrifices that I make in the name of PEACE!

TBL

Ham, you and others should still make jokes. How can you not make jokes about these selectmen and their insanely biased tabloid writer? But some of the posters on here should reign it in a little. I have said this before several times, the message here can be lost on readers of this website if they are turned off by too much of a harsh tone.

I'm not kidding!  I feel that the tin hats have provided me the ultimate test - to hear that Damon should play Bobo - and I did not make one joke!  Passing this test has confirmed that I am a Ham of Peace, and Official Peace Hambassador!

People, as official Peace Hambassador, I hereby declare this a peace site and all bloggers are but travelers on the road to peace.   And ye, for there will be times that our frustrations with the Bagel Consumer will overrun us and we will slip and refer to him as a feminine hygiene product.  But no matter, for then we will pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and continue on the road to peace.

I just hope that Bobo does not start attacking us for our peaceful ways.

Ham of Peace your picture of the psychedelic peace sign brought up a lot of memories from the 60’s. Everyone had copies of Peter Max’s art work on their walls. As one who protested in the 60’s and wore the hippie garb I can tell you that even though we may now be peace bloggers I’m sure the  peace bloggers will be ridiculed just as the hippies were in the 60’s. People would ask us why we protested, the government was never going to be influenced by what we said or did and things would never change. Boy were they wrong. I don’t know if you are from that generation. I think you should know that hippies were allowed to debate as long as at the end of the debate, flowers were handed out, some of that “funny weed”, and lots of ice cream.

BREAKING NEWS:  Bono delivers the following message.  It was important so he stuck the mic right up against his lips:

http://rickhill.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/bono.jpg

"We should all try to be, in our own special way, a Ham of Peace.  For, if we are as peaceful as the Ham of Peace, then there will be Peace in the Ham.  Wow, this microphone is delicious!"

Three days have now passed and I, the Ham of Peace, have still resisted the temptation to make any jokes about the tin hats thinking that Matt Damon should play Bobo!  And literally, I have now thought up 10,782 jokes.  Yes, all of those jokes wasted just to further the peace movement!  I have passed the ultimate test of peace!

(But seriously, if they start ever saying that Rebecca Romijn-Stamos should play Brenda, you people will have to hogtie me to keep me from my keyboard.  A Ham of Peace can only resist so much.)

I have to comment on the “peace” movement adopted on the hate site. It seems to be their way of mocking the observer website (this one) and people who don’t share their views.. Like children, they are using a standard for seven and eight your olds: imitate and exaggerate. So what we are witnessing over on the hate site is their interpretation of the postings on this blog. They apparently see the posts over here as being positive, civilized, fair, and socially acceptable among other things. But they can’t help themselves. They use the words of peace but the message is still hate.
There is a lesson to be learned here though. From their perspective many of the things said over here really do offend them. Things posted here “hurt their ears” as my daughter insisted was happening to her when she heard things she didn’t like (and she was about seven or eight). To them even civil discussions are offensive when the topic is in conflict with their views. Actually, civil discussion itself seems to be offensive to some of the hate bloggers.
Taken out of context some of the comments on this site are a little too much. However, in context they seem just about right. As an example a right hook to the jaw seems mean and like something I wouldn’t support doing. However, if the context is that the right hook is a response to a kick in the groin then I think the right hook might be a little too moderate (unless it is coupled with a head butt). Hopefully things will stay verbal, but Mr. Smith’s recent article was sending a not so subtle message to his followers that they should come to town meeting prepared to push it as far as the police will allow. I will certainly be looking over my shoulder for non-verbal blows.
Finally, as someone of an age who lived through the period of peace and love I find it particularly offensive for them to mock those ideals. The Beatles and hippies are an important part of my life so lay off mocking me and my generation. I hope it backfires on you. I know hippies; hippies are friends of mine; and you, “piece of ham and your followers,” are no hippies.

It makes the Ham of Peace sad when he is attacked for his peaceful ways, but no matter, for I am a Ham of Peace.  We are but humble bloggers of peace on the road to peace on a peace train built from peace.

Nay, good sir, nay I say we make no mockery of peace.  Nay, we instead embrace peace.  Embracing peace can never backfire for if it did, the only thing it would backfire upon us is more peace.  And we'd be ok with that, because we love peace.

I would say that Mr. Jones is a little paranoid.

And to TA Andrews, as a (now) seasonal citizen I am highly offended that you are attacking the Friends of the library. Just FYI, it IS NOT accepted practice for the Friends to write checks to the Town. Why don't you and the great Biz call around to find out how other Friends groups handle their donations? While you are at it ask if the Town sticks their nose into their business.

Wareham cannot heal until there is real change in our leadership.

Greetings, Peaceniks!  Has everyone been peaceful today?

Remember, Fellow Peace Lovers, when the unpeaceful people have you down, try this exercise.  Take a deep breathe, count to three, then shout "Serenity Now!"  And before you know it, you will feel the serenity enter you and you will be at peace.

Stay Peaceful,
