We've entered into Boozeygate, Week 2, still no comment from the board of selectmen, and the rest of the local media practically turning a blind eye to the Boozeygate scandal.
For those just tuning in, a Lawrence Eagle Tribune report on who our unscrupulous board of selectmen felt was worthy of a top three finalist interview in the TA search:
http://www.eagletribune.com/punewshh/lo … _157093809
With selectmen remaining silent on this issue for nearly two weeks since their plan to sweep this information under the rug was foiled by this site, it's anyone's guess as to whether this candidate will be hired or not, and if he is hired, what their explanation will be.
Hamatron5000, Wareham's Premiere Investigator and Exposer of Selectman Chicanery, hereby taps into his crystal ball and makes a prediction:
I predict, with 75% surety, that selectmen will hire DUI Guy. At first, when Bobo took DUI Guy to task for not talking about this in his interview, saying the selectmen tested him by seeing if he'd bring it up during the interview and he failed the test by not bringing up, saying he would be "stunned" if he got the job, that led me to believe that selectmen realized this guy would just be a political anchor to drag them down.
However, after re-thinking the issue, I figure Bobo will have no problem backpeddling on his words if this is who his select-masters want. My prediction, if they do hire this guy, they'll have him give some kind of public mea culpa, the selectmen and Bobo will give him some lathery slathery butt kissing treatment, and then we'll all be painted out as power elite bastards for not cutting the guy some slack.
That's my prediction, but note I said I'm only 75 percent sure, not 100 percent sure. It's anyone's guess at this point. The selectmen could very well go with another pick now that their shenanigans have been exposed.
But, a person with limited job prospects like this, my gut feeling tells me this would be a lackey's lackey, and that is going to be hard for the Sweet Brucey Bunch to pass up. And Bobo would have no problem backpeddling on his words if that is who they want.
I don't know. It's anyone's guess at this point. And I note that even I'm not sure how it will play out.
All I know is tonight's meeting is one to keep an eye on. A lot of BOS shenanigans will be afoot.
What do you all predict?

Two OUI's in 15 months? We all do stupid thing at one time or another but two times caught is a problem and its very concerning to wonder how many time it went unnoticed. Its a disease and that can take over you, that may have been the case. I believe it is stated somewhere that he has been sober for some time now because he decided to get help, thats a good start.
The following is a very disturbing picture of someones life that has been transformed forever due to a drunk driver, it is very sad and sobering. This isn't an eyeopener for just town administrator candidates but everyone. Just dont drink and drive.

Looking further into my crystal balls...
My number 1 prediction is that DUI Guy will get it. A person with employment prospects like this is going to be beholden to the BOS to do whatever they want and I think that would be hard for the Brucey Bunch to give up. If he does get it, they'll have him give some kind of mea culpa public apology, the selectmen and Bobo will go on and on about how brave he is, how the hate bloggers are evil for thinking two DUI related arrests is a big deal, yadda yadda yadda. They are predictable like that.
If DUI Guy doesn't get it, my number 2 prediction is that it will go to Maresco. It is possible that the selectmen will realize that Andrews would be a political liability for them, and since "Operation Hope Everyone Forgets How to Google for the Next Three Years" was a failure, they may have realized the jig is up and go with another candidate. (But come on, the team that brings you "lets abolish town meeting because we didn't get our way and make everyone vote till they vote how we want" doesn't have much political savvy to begin with).
Maresco, I have heard, is involved in Democratic politics, so that'll be a plus, with this BOS (Janey especially). But, I have heard Andrews is involved in Democrat politics too. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with being involved with Democratic politics, just that I find it odd that involvement with Democratic politics seems like it was almost a prerequisite, and I'm not sure why since the town administrator's job should be, by definition, non-political.
Canevazzi, out of the three, appeared, in my opinion, to be the most qualified since he had actual town administration experience. (One would think that no one would make it to the final three without having run a town before, town administration experience seeming like a good thing to have for a town administrator candidate, but guess again with these select-clowns).
So in other words, Canevazzi, who seems most qualified, is out of the running I would think, because the selectmen don't make choices based on what's is good for the town but on what is good for them. (And that isn't to say Canevazzi isn't without faults, as Dick Wheeler mentioned, there was talk that he wasn't one to stand his ground against selectmen, and that is obviously a quality this board would like.)
Who knows at this point? It will be an interesting meeting to say the least.
But if they do pick contestant #3, they should resign immediately. Wareham deserves an apology that he even made it to the final three.
Personally, I'd like to see them do the whole process over, this time with a citizen search commitee. And that isn't asking much, since they would just put their own lackies on the search committee, but at least there would be less secrecy involved. A decision like this should have public input.
