If it is true that the town is paying for Coleman's defense -- that's outrageous. Coleman has been charged criminally. NO municipality would pay for the defense of an employee (or volunteer) who has been charged with a ciminal offense because a criminal act can never be within the scope of employment. The Town's liability insurance will not cover this either.
Can someone provide verification that the Town is paying for Coleman's lawyer?

I agree with what you are saying the insurance Co. will not pay to defend someone in a criminal case. At least not that I know of. I don't know who is the Towns Ins. co. but i am sure they are looking at the bill and may not want to be to insureance Co. in the future. tis town is setting itself up for somany law suites in the future I should have gone into law.

If the Town is foolish enough to pay for defense of Mr. Coleman, and he is convicted, then the Town will be forced to represent him in Civil Court, where he will be portrayed as their agent and the Town of Wareham will spend gobs and gobs of money when they finally settle out.
Good luck!!

IF YOU LOOK BACK AT THE BOS TAPES ONE MAN ASKED THIS QUESTION DIRECTLY ABOUT WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF SOMEONE SUED CRIMEWATCH AND BRUCE AND JANE SAID THEY SIGNED WAIVERS AND THE TOWN WOULD IN NO WAY BE INVOLVED. IF THIS IS NOT TRUE THEN THE BOS HAS LIED ONCE AGAIN.
