The spin will most likely complain about stacking town meeting and special interest groups, but you can't have it both ways.

You can't complain that barely a 150 quorum shows up to do the town's business, and when almost 500 show up, complain that town government isn't working. And if the votes had gone the way of the bos, they'd be thanking everyone who showed up to exercise their democratic rights. Talk about hypocrites.

Imagine if we had a mayor and lackeys what would have happened. They'd be breaking ground on Westfield right now without our say in the underhanded way they were violating a perfectly legal deed restriction. And we'd have a hand picked lackey police chief doing their bidding.

Although last night had moments of incivility, it still proved to me that the people in this town DO CARE about what goes on.

The vote is the most powerful form of democracy, and we can't afford to lose our right to vote on important issues that impact our town.  We must continue our fight against the charter review's proposal for a mayoral form of government.

We need a CRC that does its job--review the current charter. I'm sure in April we can rally the troops again and vote NO on changing our form of government. Our work has just begun.
