I’m leaning towards a no vote on article one. I don’t trust the ITA to transfer any money from any account just so he can try to balance the budget. I would be more comfortable waiting for the new TA. Is article 22 about Bay Pointe if not which article is?

thanks for the info pshooter. I think article one will pass. It seems like any time they want to transfer money town meeting goes along with it. Maybe this time it will be different

I hope it's different. Article 1 will allow them to pay Heaton for the bills that were OVER what was already paid through the trust. In my opinion, the issues with the health insurance trust are more vital than the consultant for Westfield.

The Town Meeting will eventually have to pass Article #1, but, if you take it line by line not all of the items must be paid. You can ask for a continuance until further information is brought forward, etc. That's the beauty of a line item veto in an open Town Meeting form of government that the other side is hell bent on getting rid of...Your veto power is one reason why.

You can't just vote down article one. Employees need to get paid, heat and electric bills need to get paid and so on. Our town needs to function. But there are some items in the budget that we don't have to support such as paying K and P well over the amount voted on in April and paying Heaton when there was no authorization at town meeting to pay that money.
Amendments can be made and plenty of people at town meeting know how to do this. Voice your opinion. That's what town meeting is all about. Even sweet B was quoted recently at Tuesday night's meeting saying that town meeting is democracy and more people need to attend. Of course, that won't be the case under a mayoral system.
