I'm stumped. The bos serves over 20,000 people in this town. Yet, they are totally obsessed with the few people who blog on this site and the hundred or so regular visitors to the site. If I was a statistician, I would say that very low percentage was statistically insignificant. If I was a politician, I would know enough to ignore it.
Politics 101: You need to have a thick skin to be a politician. You cannot let every negative comment made about you be your total focus. Every politician has his or her detractors. You have to live with it and do your job. You can't take it personally.
Barney Frank lives by this. He has discussed this thick skin idea publicly. President Obama claims he can't listen to every person who says hateful or even racist things about him because he is too busy trying to do his job. Whether you like Frank or Obama, they are right about this. If you can't stand the heat--get out of politics.
Three members of the bos last night made references to the blog or online sites meaning this blog. This is not good leadership. They need to focus on the problems facing the town, not worrying about who is saying something about them. It has become an unhealthy obsession. It has led to the waste of money on the computer audit--and even if they deny it, we all heard the infamous 6 minutes, so we know it was at the very least, a factor.
The HATE blogger nonsense is just that. Even a smaller number of people who post here have posted HATEFUL comments. Sure, many of us are not kind, but no less so than some of the comments made by the bos and their supporters--even on public access tv. And much information has been revealed on this site that the citizens should know about.
So, why the obsession? Why not do the job they were elected to do? The bos's unhealthy obsession with this little site has caused so much harm to this town. Their attitudes will not change. The obsession is too deep.
I guess that means that if we want this town to move forward, we need leaders who know what it means to be a politician and know that you need that thick skin or you will never be successful. It is time for a change. Wareham deserves better.

Molly,
If there's one thing I know about bullies, it is this:
THEY CAN DISH IT, BUT THEY CAN'T TAKE IT.
A schoolyard bully will pick on you all day long, but get fed up and defend yourself, and that same tough guy bully is the first one to go running and crying off to tell teacher.
Same thing with these adult bullies who never grew up. They attacked, and attacked, and attacked anyone who stood in their way, they kept those attacks up long after the people were no longer in their way, for no reason other than pure spite, they kept their attacks up so long that they put people in a position where they had no choice but to defend themselves and start throwing some criticism back.
They criticized all day long, but throw a little criticism back their way and they stomp their feet and start crying.
I can't count the number of times where I read in the rag a quote from Brucey saying something to the effect of "Politics is tough, people shouldn't take it personally, etc."
Well, sorry, but politics is tough for everyone. You people made Wareham this way. Don't be upset now that the way you made it isn't working for you. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, etc.
If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.
Any other cliches I can throw out?

I wonder if we can get Bruce's statement last night (about the library) where the citizens of this town are demanding accountability, open government, and fiscal responsibility????? IF this applies to the library, why does it not apply to the Selectmen and other elected officials?

I heard Jane last night say they should just ignore the bloggers. And my friends here tell me that not long ago, slager claimed he would be doing the same thing.
Yet, they can't let it go. And their obsession is part of what is ruining the town. Sticks and stones (or baseball bats) will break my bones, BUT NAMES WILL NEVER HURT ME.
Note: Don't take that literally--it is not a threat. It is a childhood rhyme that came to me when I read Ham's comment about bullies. The bos need to get over it. If your feelings get hurt so easily, you don't belong in politics---period.
Maybe you are right Liz. The truth is being told about what this bos has done, how they act and treat citizens who oppose their opinions, and how badly our town has been effected both financially and in reputation. Truth?? That's a good thing.

I have no problem posting here or saying to anyone I can't stand Bruce, Brenda, Weasel, Dirt Thief, John, Maryann, and Butt Monkey. I also have no use for Barney Frank but he makes a legitimate point, one these idiots should learn form since they worship him. But, he is also a real politician, these people are all politician wanna be's. Actually they are just wanna be's period. Wanna be a journalist, wanna be a moderator, wanna be a manager, wanna be employed, wanna be a criminal, wanna be a deab beat, and the list goes on.
They are useless, incompetant, corrupt scoundrels. That is all they are. They are the people that show up in the yearbook as least likely to succeed. Thsi si the truth my blogging brothers and sisters, not said out of my dislike, this is just how it is. A group of losers who amounted to nothing in life trying to run everyone else's. Charity begins at home, straighten out your own mess and then try to help out with ours. Until then, go home!

i defy ANYONE to show me that Barney Frank doesn't have this group of clowns pegged for exactly what they are: phonies.
The Barney Frank I have come to respect would have NOTHING, as in NOT ANYTHING, to do with the Wareham BOS.
I will strive to have a copy of this before him.

Barney Frank thought the racial baiting was deplorable :). I spoke with him right after the entire racial baiting /meeting fiasco. He talked too fast (being southern, this is a problem I face quite often) but we had a very interesting phone call.

According to an article by Ruth Thompson in the Courier: "Donahue said the best way to ignore the negativity in town is to “ignore it”
“Don’t discuss it, don’t look at it, don’t read it,” she said. “The best way to shut it down is to ignore it. We have a town to run and a future to shape.”
Thank goodness. It is in print. Now they HAVE to ignore us and get on with running the town.
And also, "Begley stressed this was “not a group” and that they chose to “channel their energy into thought-provoking debate.'"
How do you define group? Mrs. Begley, Mr. Schneider, Jane and Brenda. Sounds groupy to me.
The Courier also has this: "Sauvageau said Selectman Jane Donahue had approached him with an idea of having some sort of public forum similar to the idea Schneider and Begley presented."
"Donahue thanked Schneider and Begley for coming before the board. She said her idea was to have a night of citizens participation, but that she would be more than happy to work with Schneider and Begley and come up with a date for the forum."
Coincidence? You decide. They have the keys.
Finally Ruth wrote: "“Together we need to foster an attempt to begin to create an atmosphere that moves us away from the negativity that has plagued our community on local Web sites and other venues,” Begley read."
Here is another test---ask people you know, or neighbors etc. if they know about this site. Go up to a stranger in Shaw's and ask that person about this site. If it is a plague to our community, shouldn't everyone know about it?

Molly,
Bobo has pledged to no longer look at the site and now the BOS have pledged not to look at the site, and I for one say, "thank God" because it is a tremendous weight off of my shoulders to know that I will no longer be hurting their fragile wittle feelings.
The way they dished it out, I just assumed they were all tough guys who could take it, but apparently, they're all just shrinking violets. I had no idea. If I had known they were such a bunch of wilting daisies I never would have made fun of them. Thank God they're not looking at this site, I just am so glad I won't be making them cry anymore.

Did he think it was deplorable enough to call out Mr Moderator (or Bobo)?..Donahue has been a loyal soldier for years, even driving around with a Barney Frank liscense plate for quite some time!!..that fast talking may have been lip service, as the Congressman, Sen Pacheco, Gov Patrick, and others have always counted on John overseeing their local campaigns..hell, he even got the long-anticipated job for life!! (though as expected, he fucked that up!)
Actions speak louder than words, and as yet there's been no apology or retraction from either of the race-baiters (nor will there ever be)..so as deplorable as he may have thought it was, I doubt Barney has crossed Mr and Mrs Moderator off his Holiday card list!!

Do you think the recent race baiting and elder baiting/abuse on the part of the bos and slager--was part of the negativity plague Ms. Begley was talking about?
Do you think the recent comments made by our bos--is that the woman whose husband is screwing around on her--jeeezus---I don't talk to idiots, etc. is part of the negativity plague?
Do you think the multitude of hateful lies written by slager and exposed on this site is part of the negativity plague?
I guess the don't throw stones if you live in a glass house bit really applies here. The difference??
This is a small, blog site with few bloggers and few visitors.
They are elected officials who spew their hate on live tv each week or a wanna be journalist who spews his hate in a rag.
You decide.

One would wonder why these elected officials would have anything to do with Donahue..unfortunately, Mr Moderator has created a voting block in Wareham..look no further than our last Selectman's race..very ineffective choice thanks in part to John and Jane (and let's not forget Brockton Brenda!)

I won't say too much on this, because I was asked not to, but I am sure they will be very careful in the future! Because this is not a federal issue, we are not going to get too many public comments on this.
