We received the Word copy of the Fall Town Warrant. If anyone wants a copy, drop Liz or me a message with email address.
Pay particular attention to Article 2, Article 5, and Article 6.
Article 2 deals with the Westfield Issue
Article 5 deals with removing the Police Chief position from Civil Service
Article 6 deals with acceptance and appropriation for paving Agawam Lake Shore Drive (and two smaller roads in neighborhood)
IMO, No on Article 2, No on Article 5, and Yes on Article 6.
Hopefully we can end the Westfield debacle and concentrate on a better approach to affordable senior housing
By keeping the Chief in civil service, we can stop an effort to put a shill in that slot. It will also allow the new chief to control his budget and personnel decisions as well as use civil service to block any conflict of interest requests. We all know the Selectmen are keen on stopping any conflicit of interests! So I'm sure they would support assurance that we keep autonomy for the new chief. Why would they want to interfer with police work? :)
Article 6 is an interesting story. This community has been waiting for this for over 10 years. It appears the ball has been dropped a few times. Right after our last rain storm, the gullies in the road were so bad, you could damage your car. They have waited long enough, let's get those roads repaired and paved!

I was getting my info. from what Sanguinet said at Tues. Mtg..
It looks like the withdrawal of the original #5, caused the following Warrant Articles to be "bumped up". Sorry if I caused any confusion.
email pshooter59@yahoo.com if you want a rundown of the Warrant Articles.
