BOBO CLAIMS:
Rep. Susan Williams Gifford wrote a letter of complaint regarding the interim town administrator’s audit of town-owned computers, forced her husband to sign it, and had it sent it to the office of Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz, a fellow Republican.
HE CLAIMS THIS RIGHT WING CONSPIRACY TO THWART THE COMPUTER AUDIT? OH MY HEAD!!!! SUSAN WILLIAMS FORCED HER HUSBAND TO SIGN IT? THIS IS GETTING WAY OUT OF HAND BY BOBO AND I THINK SUSAN SHOULD GET A HOLD OF AN ATTORNEY RIGHT AWAY. BOBO YOUR GOING TO BE REPORTING OUT OF A CARDBOARD BOX AFTER THIS DEFAMATION BY YET ANOTHER ANONYMOUS SOURCE.
The author of the e-mail sent a second one to the Observer, asking the information not be used for publication for fear of personal safety and the safety of family members. After consulting with counsel, the Observer has decided to publicly reveal a portion of the e-mail that will not identify the author (who is a private citizen unconnected to town government). The Observer has made this decision after being told by counsel that the company could face obstruction of justice charges by withholding this information from the authorities.
YEAH GOOD DECISION BOBO DID YOU INVESTIGATE WHERE AND WHEN THIS TOOK PLACE TO SEE IF THIS PERSON IS CREDIBLE OR DID ANOTHER ONE OF YOUR NUTJOB FOLLOWERS SEND YOU AN EMAIL. IS THIS PAUL SHOOTER'S EMAIL? HE IS SCARED ALSO ?

Wow. Just wow. Slager's latest post is basically a textbook example of all of the things that I have pointed out in the past. I'll deconstruct it on the ride home tonight, but the absolute most ridiculous part of the post is this:
The author of the e-mail sent a second one to the Observer, asking the information not be used for publication for fear of personal safety and the safety of family members. After consulting with counsel, the Observer has decided to publicly reveal a portion of the e-mail...The Observer has made this decision after being told by counsel that the company could face obstruction of justice charges by withholding this information from the authorities.
So let me get this straight. Slager's counsel said "if you withhold this from the authorities, you could get in trouble".....and he published it on his blog publicly? That's patently irresponsible. If that was the advice he got from counsel, then he should have sent that information TO THE AUTHORITIES, not published it online. Also, I'm not a lawyer, but doesn't obstruction of justice only apply it someone is being questioned in the course of an investigation? Wikipedia seems to think so:
Generally, obstruction charges are laid when it is discovered that a person questioned in an investigation, who is not a suspect, has lied to the investigating officers...Obstruction charges can also be laid if a person alters or destroys physical evidence, even if he was under no compulsion at any time to produce such evidence.
So does this mean that Slager has been questioned in the investigation, and chose to respond to those investigators by publicly posting information on his blog? Does it mean that his lawyer is nuts? Does it mean that he's making stuff up again? Who knows....

Also, IHS, he doesn't say that it's an anonymous email - just that it is an email. Maybe it was Paul Shooter...he is, after all, a spy in our midst!

Who would believe that Susan FORCED Mark to sign something? Anyone who knows those two would simply laugh at such a claim. Talk about unbelievable. At least make it SOUND like it could happen if you are going to lie about it.
Yet another reason to ignore the rag. You can't believe a word someone says when they have been proven to be a liar on so many occasions.

Bobo, you are too hilarious.
Molly, I agree with you.
It is too bad that Bobo has descended the public dialog to this low point that I now have to analyze such a stupid allegation, but here goes:
If anyone has ever seen the Giffords, you know that Mark Gifford is a big guy, while Susan Gifford is slender in stature. If the Giffords were to ever allegedly engage into fisticuffs over the issue of whether Mark will sign a letter by Susan, my money is on Mark all the way.
Don't get me wrong. Speed and agility do have advantages over strength. I'm sure in such a hypothetical scenario, Susan would hold her own and would probably land a few quick flying karate kicks on Mark. But at the end of the day, I think in this scenario, strength would win out.
I just don't think Susan has the physical strength to wrestle and pin Mark to the ground and FORCE his hand to scrawl a signature.
(NOTE: That was sarcasm all the way. Giffords, please sue Bobo's ass. I know the legal burden is higher for public figures, but that doesn't mean that Bobo can just say anything he pleases.)

I said this in another post, but BoBo I'm going to keep repeating it so you look like an even bigger a-hole in the end......
You are WAY OFF on the republican conspiracy! You're not even close on this one, but then again, you've been way off all year. Don't let it be too much of a surprise when you find out the truth.

Oh, and feel free to say an anonymous source on the REAL Observer website suggested it wasn't the Republicans. Actually, use the truth, commonsense isn't suggesting it's not the Republicans, commonsense knows it's not.
And no Bobo, it wasn't commonsense either

Wareham natives used to enjoy the saying "Bourne will eat crow", after a winning battle over football. This time, the natives will enjoy seeing Slager eating crow, instead of bagels.

If Rep. Gifford has that much power over her husband and the D. A.'s office, I would be concerned that within two business days, if I was the owner of the Observer, I would be served with a subpoena and a search warrant to discover who accused an elected official of criminal acts.
Don't be like Nixon...better burn the tapes.

That's an interesting point Dan - ESPECIALLY since he has already publicly stated that he is moving copies of the email "outside the jurisdiction of the Plymouth Country District Attorney’s office." And he's trying to avoid an obstruction of justice charge???
Also, it looks like he just added something about a rumor surrounding United Steelworkers - has anybody else heard this, or is it just in his head / an attempt to change the subject?

I believe that is the union that some administrators were looking to join prior to their release as employees.

PShooter, it's the last paragraph of his post at the top of the site:
Rumors that the United Steelworkers of America (which recently began representing some town employees) was involved in stopping the audit have proven unfounded. Representatives on the national, state and local level told the Observer the union has no involvement in the computer audit in any way.

That's funny because the Courier has it listed as "United Steel Makers of America Union," who leveled complaints against the town. Are they the same thing? Does it matter?

No Union has any power to investigate anything or to stop anything.
Where in the hell does this information come from?
I can tell you one thing, if Slager really does have a lawyer that told him to publish that anonymous e-mail, and imply he should keep the mail from investigative authorities, I'd like to know his name, because he is the dumbest SOB ever allowed to walk the earth in a 3 piece suit and call himself attorney. That's my opinion, of course.
It may be that this is the way for Mr. Slager to end his career, and his paper, by allowing himself to be arrested and charged with a felony.
He can blame everything on the authorities, including and especially Rep. Gifford, and escape his own incompetence and lack of managerial knowledge.
He can stick with his "journalistic ethics" and refuse to reveal the name of his attorney or the e-mail sender.
(Anonymous e-mails are easily traced by investigative authorities on a local, State and National level).
He CAN burn the tapes, take his lumps, serve some time in jail, close the business, escape his debts, because he truly can't pay, and be a hero to his followers and especially his family.
Then...he can look for a job.
I have held my tongue too long. I have tried to be polite and respectful to him, but he has crossed the line this time.
He is about, as Rod Serling would say, to "enter a different dimension."
It won't be pretty, but it will be effective, and he can justify it to himself, his followers and his family.
Sad, actually.

Let me see. Ragboy lied about the anonymous Cape Verdean couple, he lied about Paul Shooter, he lied about his "sources" on the computer audit, he lied about the anonymous library trustee, and now he is telling us another lie about the anonymous emailer.
PLEASE, don't pay attention to what he says. He has lost all credibility. How many times can you catch a person in a lie before you relegate him to the trash bin?
This is the end of the rag. It is not even worth lining your bird cage with. It is not worthy of being fish wrap. It is a RAG and should be treated as such.
Boy that felt good.

Larry,
You remember Baghdad Bob, Saddam's Press Secretary? The images of U.S. tanks rolling into the city and Iraqis throwing rope around Saddam statues and pulling them down and cheering all over TV...and yet ole Baghdad Bob was saying "Everything is fine, we are crushing the American pig infidels, nothing to see here."
I think we have a Baghdad Bobo on our hands.
(Bobo, I know this just went over your head, it was a metaphor).
