I received an email from the powerful and omnipotent Rober Slager this evening. This is after I took Ms Lilly to task over the OVM situation. Of course, he came to her defense. If you want to read the exchange between Ms Lilly and me, it's on the Standard Times. This is what the Slager wrote me:
I've been laughing my butt off ever since your post on the Standard-Times that the owners of the Onset Village Market decided to pull the Observer before they were approached to do so. That is an amazing amount of bullshit, even for you. I spoke to the owners last Wednesday night, before the new edition even hit the press. He said he was told by several people that if he kept selling the Observer he would go out of business. But I'll tell you what. Let's both take polygraph tests. I'm actually serious. The person who is found to be lying has to permanently leave Wareham. Are you game? It's time to put up or shut up.

I went to his office to "escort" him to the police station for a polygraph, because I have no problem taking one, but he wasn't in his office. I would never do a "Loser leaves town" with a slime bag like Slager, but I have no problem taking the polygraph. I told the truth, so it's not a problem. I just wanted to share his email, because I won't be responding to him anymore in email. He is a snake, a liar, and his business is going down the tubes. Meanwhile, I have a nice home, great friends and family, and a great job. :) It's a great day to be a power elite bastard!

Notice, he doesn't mention being sold out of the paper like he has before. He also states now that he was "told" by several people that if he kept selling the Slimeserver, he would go out of business. He doesn't mention harrassment or 1st amendment rights, like in his article. Isn't it funny how the story changes when he isn't selling it to his minions? Now for the last one, which is my favorite. What happened to "few"? Now it is several people? I think he just outed his own report! Wow...good work scoop!

My favorite part of this is "I'm actually serious". It's almost like "I make up everything else I write, but THIS TIME I'm actually serious"....
I've had his 'warehamobserver@aol.com' address on my AOL buddy list for a while now...keep wondering if he'd respond if I IM him, but don't want to put in the effort to find out :)

He does make up most of what he writes, then he edits it as he discovers the truth. Dang it Casual, no one is supposed to know that!
I will say this, he is probably not worth the effort. That is why I won't respond to him in email again. I might show up at his office again!

Have you been in the Onset Village Market lately? If you are in and out of Onset regularly, you will notice that there is always parking in front of the store. Selling or giving away the "RAG" or not, is not going to put them out of business. Since changing hands, the prices are sky high and the smell is not too pleasant. Sorry, but maybe a little cleanup would help them get the old customers back. The can use the rag to wash the floors. I don't mean to be insulting and maybe they don't notice it (the odor). Only letting you know how some of us feel, sorry.

Since I'm using this for parody or analysis, here is a comment made by the biggest douchebag (sorry Bruce) I have ever had to deal with.
By: robertslager on 8/11/09
Interesting that the Standard-Times will not let me post any comments under stories about the Observer. There was a letter to the editor about the boycott of the Observer in yesterday's paper. Ironic that the Standard-Times is censoring my comments underneath a letter that speaks of the First Amemendent. But then it would benefit the Standard-Times financially if we went out of business, won't it? The Standard-Times cares nothing about journalism. For them it's all about the money. I've been in this business for 25 years. I have never seen anything more shameful than the way the Standard-Times has sold out it's journalist integrity for money.
The letter was a mish mash that had to do with a boycott and mentioned 1st amendment rights. Apparently, Slager is still thinking he has the right to post his comments anywhere he likes.
The standard times cares a great deal about journalism, which is why you aren't being welcomed. If you read Casual's dissection of your work, you will notice YOU don't care about journalism.
It would benefit the entire town if you went out of business. You are a hate monger and mouthpiece for the Selectmen. You say all opinions are welcome on your site, but that isn't the entire truth. All opinions are welcome, as long as you PAY to play. So, please start telling the entire story. Which leads us to the next statement about it's all about money. Isn't that what you are saying by making people pay? Isn't that why you are really upset, because you now sell fewer papers? Stop flapping your gums and tell the truth.
I have heard the same thing said about you, repeatedly. You, douchebag, have sold out what small piece of journalistic integrity you had. I would be ashamed if I were you!
Look, I'll say this again. Slager has no real ties to Wareham. He lives in Halifax, his paper is failing, and he quotes Bruce and himself. Why? Because no one will return his emails or calls. He has repeatedly twisted information, cannot tell the entire story, and is losing readers. He has promised big things from the Trustee suit and the audit. Where does he get this information? If it's from the Selectmen, that would show a lack of integrity on their part to feed information to a media source.
Enough for now. The parody and analysis is too easy.

Sorry, just got off a phone call. It does my heart good to hear people say, "thank you for your good work". I'll be glad to get away for a few days! One of the most interesting comments this person made was, "we deserve a fair and impartial local paper". What a concept! I agree, we deserve better than the tripe we have.

The s-( and the Courrier would not even notice if this guy went under.
His blog is just not that significant.
Their not letting him post speaks more to his mental instability than anything to do with finances.
Talk about selling your soul for money he is an expert.

Once again for Bobo:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

"journalistic integrity" must be considered oxymoronic when coming from slimeball slager. first, he ain't no journalist, a master of polemics, perhaps.
secondly, integrity? did you say integrity?????
freedom of speech, as quoted by urneighbor. BoBo has the right to stand on a soapbox on the front lawn of the Town Hall and spew his nonsense. He has the right to hand out free, or attempt to sell his Pravda by the Bay propagnda sheets (subject to local peddlers laws, of course) anywhere in Town, including Onset Avenue. but Comrade BoBo, where is it written that you have a "right" for your crap to be sold by others, particularly when they choose not to have your garbage in their sight, or on their site. Hmmmm? Please cite a reference for me, to support your screeching bloody blue murder about this. Hint: it ain't the first amendment to the US constitution.
Larry, you make a comment regarding his information source, which clearly has to be the BoS. My blogs have addressed before my absolute, undiluted outrage at this practice by the BoS. It matters not whether this is a collective decision by the BoS (voted in open session? - NOT!), or a single individual who feels that he or she can be his source. It is wrong in the former case, and it should not be tolerated by other members of the BoS in the latter case.
Where are the reporters & editors, (yeah, you Tammy) from the Courier and S-T raising Holy Hell over this pernicious practice. Where is the outrage of the general citzenry that mere voters & taxpayers are not allowed to be privy to the thoughts & actions of the BoS while acting without public scutiny; but this scumbag lowlife is? Even on this blog, there ought to be far more hootin' an' hollerin' about this. It is just plain wrong.
Whew! I'm done. for now, that is.......

UR,
I agree. I have a list of all the times his "source/sources" have updated him on the audit. I find it completely unacceptable that a he is able to receive information while we, the citizens of this town, have no idea what is going on. It's not his money being spent, it is ours. If it is true, it's wrong. If it is false, then he is once again caught in another lie. Either way, this is another reason why we need professional, qualified people in those Selectmen chairs. I'm very tired of the kindergarten mentality that seems to run rampant through the leaders of our fair town.
