The nightmare without end...

Anyone hear of Glen Charlie residents organizing to oppose to Catlady's plans for a water tower?

What is the purpose of this water tower?  For the Cat Lady and the kitties to take baths in?  She can't afford water now that the newspaper she owned has been replaced with a 50-watt halogen lamp?

Six people attended the Fire District's meeting, according to the first hand account I heard.

What Glen Charlie residents were told - after their objections to the project were dismissed as "Not In My Neighborhood" whining - was this:

Stimulus Funds are burning holes in our pockets and like it or not, this site is shovel ready.

Since we've got all these stimulus funds, how about these funds being used to repave outer Glen Charlie Rd between the Maple Park Rd and this new water tower?  After all, those big nasty trucks being used to construct the water tower will cause adverse wear and tear on outer Glen Charlie Rd.  Some reparations are in order.  Why the repaving of outer Glen Charlie could be part of the building permit for the tower.  Obama's good for it.

Yep, you guessed it, 128Commutter lives up that way and has to avoid those suddenly reopened potholes every day.

Ruth Thompson, Courier: Wareham Fire District voters approve site for new water tower

[Anthony Zuena, SEA Consultants, Inc.] also backed up Martin by stating that if the site were to be relocated, it would burden district water users with an excess of half a million dollars in additional costs.

“We now have a contractor waiting in the wings,” he said.

No fooling?

A motion was then brought forward for an Australian written ballot.  After explaining that an Australian ballot was a “secret vote,” St. Pierre asked for a hand count to take the Australian ballot. It met favorably with 80 votes and 37 in opposition.

Translated from Australian, this means voters got fucked by person or persons unknown who traded their support for other considerations.

Doesn't sound to me like healthy municipal government.

Photos of the festivities are here.
