As further proof that Slager was always out for himself, I just got this tweet:

Obs coverage up - 864 words about Slager's "defiance", 168 about the meeting itself. Nice.

80% of the article from "Paul Shooter" (who I can't find anywhere on Google - has anybody else has better results?) was about how Slager is johnny journalism, and the remainder is a 3 paragraph summary of the meeting.  How can this guy claim with a straight face that he was there to report on the meeting when this is the first thing that he posts?

Slager wants to be the "news."  It's quite obvious when he injects himself into every story.  Just the build-up to the meeting last night was news created by HIM!

Paul Shooter is made up.  He caved to us making fun of him interviewing himself.

I have just have a question for Mr. Slager and his minion, Ms Lilly.

You promised to expose Mr. Brady's recall effort. Where is it?

This is your standard operating procedure. Make a wild claim, then NEVER print a retraction. Stir up tensions, then blame it on everyone else. There was a meeting, but you choose to focus on the Selectmen and YOURSELF. Who cares about you? Report on the grassroots effort that is growing and a meeting the will be the catalyst for change in Wareham.

You want to know what a true journalist is? Watch and read Steve Urbon.

And of course the coward removes his race baiting story about the protests, the ACLU, and all the other bullshit.  I'm sure it's still in the print edition though.....

Good call Larry - For the few people that have gotten a retraction, what process did you follow?  Here's some of his made-up recall crap:

This is no “community” meeting, despite what Brady is claiming. It is a recall rally, plain and simple, one held in a public building that was paid for by your tax dollars

The Observer has been predicting this recall attempt for more than a year. The only reason it has taken this long is because the power elite arrogantly assumed they could put us out of business first

And then from older versions:

Next Thursday night the line will be drawn. The recall crew will try to keep the good people of Wareham from having a say in their own future

The CBW is knee-deep in this recall effort.

A quote from Mr. Brady:

I have one comment / recommendation. Within your story, offer an apology to the citizens of Wareham and CBW for misinforming the general public of any recall effort by the Citizens for a Better Wareham (CBW).

whoops, hit submit too soon...some other quotes that he should be retracting now:

This recall is being launched now for three very specific reasons – to stop the computer audit, to end the lawsuit against the former board of library trustees, and to place new members on the Charter Review Committee.

If the CBW wants an open, honest dialogue about issues pertaining to Wareham’s future, it shouldn’t be dissuading people from attending “community” meetings held in public buildings. The group shouldn’t be trying to hide in the shadows, pretending it doesn’t want a recall.

I could go on and on, but it's getting warm out and I need to clean my pool :)

Believe when I say, Slager is not a journalist. He is a hack reporter who only focuses on the Selectmen and their agenda. We accomplished a great deal by having the meeting last night. Mr. Brady showed great leadership and respect for the people by allowing them a voice. What a concept! A community that has a voice!

If today's article in the Wareham Pravda shows anything, it shows how useless this man is at reporting news. His article should be titled, "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT THE SELECTMEN!" It's a shame we can't do a recall of Slager.

If 200 showed up last night, then you can bet that will double for the next meeting! I had more than a few people tell me they had no idea about the lawsuits and the other information. They were appalled.

People, educate yourself, your friends, family and neighbors!  Let's get the word out and Take Back Wareham

Okay, I have a question. Who the heck is Paul Shooter? He is the reporter for the Wareham Observer. Anyone know Paul Shooter or see him in attendance last night? Someone please put an APB out on Paul Shooter.

Okay, I have a question. Who the heck is Paul Shooter?

Larry, I've been trying to figure that out for a few days - ever since Slager retroactively added the "Paul Shooter" byline to articles where interviewed himself.  There is no "Paul Shooter" listed on Linkedin.  There are a few on facebook, but none appear to be from the area.  A Google search for "Paul Shooter" in Wareham, MA yields two results - both from thewarehamobserver.com.  Slager didn't introduce him when he "started", just started putting the name on bylines.  The best Google search I could come up with (and I like to think I'm a fairly competent Google Engineer) is here, but that doesn't list anybody who looks like our intrepid reporter.

This personal message goes out to CoachTP (I know he reads this site).
I was the one who chastised you for comparing what goes on in this community to Holocaust. I have listened to both sides, and this is WHY I am pushing for change. I have no clue who you are, but I'm pretty sure my screen name, which is my real name, identifies me. In fact, I think you could look me up any time you like. If you want to discuss why I am supporting change, I'll gladly tell you. But listen closely, there is nothing CLOSE to what happen to the jewish people happening in Wareham. TO compare it in any way either shows you have no grasp of history or you just simply are grandstanding. Either way, I don't particularly care, you have shown your ignorance.

Larry (and thru you to coachTP)

Trying to make analogy between anything going on in the Town of Wareham and the attempted murder of any and all persons of jewish descent in the countries of Europe during the Nazi era is beyond belief. It is sick, vile, repulsive. And, let's not forget that the slaughter included gypsies, homosexuals (altho somehow Reichsmarshall Goering was exempt), and anyone else the leaders deemed a "problem".

My awakening and awareness of the horror came during a real estate transaction, of all things. My first house was a dog, and we tried to get out of it within a year of buying it. No luck, so we gave up. But, a Realtor named Anna refused to give up, and found a buyer who could live with the problems which bedeviled my wife and me.

Anna was showing me a house on the market, when I spotted it. It was a tattoo on her forearm, all numbers. There was no doubt, but I asked anyway. Her family in Hungary had been taken to the camps when she was a young girl; she never saw her parents or siblings again.

A little later Anna started her own real estate office, which was very successful until her retirement due to declining vision. I have never met a person who worked harded for her clients than this lady.

Tell CoachTP that he needs to talk to the Annas of this world. And to the many victims in E. Europe of the Soviets. I have. Then, he may not be so quick to make idiotic comparisons. But then, if he is aligned with the obfuscator, then there is little hope.

I spent 8 years in Europe, mostly during my teenage years. Because my father wanted us to experience the german culture, we lived off base in a small town. There was an older man who was always kind to the american children living in that town. He would buy us cokes and german pastries. His name was Herr Lazer. He told me he was a Nazi in the war, and apologized for it. In those days, you were either a Nazi or you were "marked". He gave me an entire set of stamps from that era, including some that were not circulated.  We made many trips throughout Europe, but one of the most memorable ones was to Dachau. I will remember what I saw, how it still had an odor of death, and the person giving the tour was one of the survivors.

It offends me to see someone draw comparisons to something they either know little about or just don't find it as horrific as they should. This person apparently is a supporter of Slager and his propaganda sheet, which makes this even more sad. I guess it's okay to incite racial tension and to trivialize the genocide of 6 million jews.

Enough said....
