I'm not a fan of what happened last night. The questions about beating his wife and paying his taxes should never be asked in a public meeting. That is in poor taste, and not necessary. I have no problem with the question about where the money for the audit came from, but let's be honest here, what went down last night does more to damage any sort  of ground swell support to remove the Selectmen.

Mixie, I think Bill has balls yes.  But the whole thing is a shame.  Mapleman,  Your right. (shaking head back and forth)   This will do nothing possitive for Wareham.   It is pathethic.  Acting like that puts them in a worse light than the BOS.  It 's too personal and far too obvious.   Chief Joyce tried to sue the paper for printing statements right.  Would it be possible for Brucie to sue for making such statements in public with lots of witnesses?  Come on. They need to be a whole lot more careful.  It is just getting silly now.  I thought we wanted things to get better, not worse. I thought we didnt want to be a sideshow.

He did hold hihs temper in, Bill did not accuse him of anything, just asked him to respond to reports about domestic violence from his address. When Bruce asked him if he was calling him a wife beater, he repeated he was trying to confirm reports.

So no he has no grounds to come after Bill. However I do beleive Bill's last question crossed the line, he should have asked him that before or after the meeting, not in the Citizen's portion, and an apology should be immediate, to put this thing to rest and move on with our cause, of makiing Wareham / Onset a better place to live.

I was going to stay out of this discussion, but I was watching the news with my lunch and saw a piece about the governor from SC who, instead of hiking the Appalachian trail was in Argentina with his honey. Then I thought of politicians in general and people like Clinton and that NY mayor or was it governor that did something similar to their wives.

And my thought was---when you become a politician, your personal life does seem fair game to an extent. And of course, once these cads were found out, the media asked non-stop questions.

The idea is that your personal life does, indeed, reflect on the kind of person you are. That is why some of you think the question about the taxes was ok. If you don't pay your own taxes, who are you to scold people at town meeting about the way the taxpayer's want to spend their own money?

Of course, smart politicians understand the importance of, and the meaning of, NO COMMENT. I can understand Bruce's response even though he should not have commented. Trying to prove he was innocent. But Brenda? What was that all about?

If proof had been presented---such as police logs of going to the Sauvageau residence for repeated calls of domestic violence, then would asking the question have been less upsetting to some? Remember, everyone thought the guy hiking the trail was a bit nutty when they found that out, but when the proof emerged that he had been in Argentina, the gloves came off and he had to answer questions that were not pleasant.

You are making a mountain out of a mole hill. The police don't like Bruce because he used his position as Selectmen to run down the police and make comments that were inappropriate. In addition, each time he or his wife was stopped, there was a valid reason. It's simple! If you don't pay your insurance or the registration is pulled, you are asking for trouble. If you don't pay your tickets and ask "another" Selectmen to fix the problem, you once again pull rank to get a favor.

Bruce brings most of his problems on himself, not the other way around.

If there is retribution at this point, he can thank his big mouth and arrogant attitude for bringing it to his table.

I don't agree with you. His comments were not the garden variety comments. He accused the police of being racists, which is completely unacceptable. When you say "people", you leave it open to generalization. There are always people complaining about the police, that is the nature of what they do. It's not an easy job to serve and protect. His run-ins with the police made it a personal issue, and THEN he used his position to bully and push until we are where we are.
Here's the test. The police department was investigated by an outside source and found there were NO issues with any of the situation involving Bruce. Now just because he feels they did something wrong, that doesn't mean they did. If you follow procedures, which they did, why is it okay for him to continue to bully them?

I'm sick of hearing how poor pitiful Bruce tried to do the right thing and only resorted to USING his position as a Selectmen. You should thank the police every day for showing up and doing a good job. Their budget isn't very good, they aren't fully staffed, and they continue to have to fight a group of Selectmen that treat them like dirt. I don't blame the chief for leaving, but I do blame Bruce for standing in public and announcing they are racist and one specific officer was scum. That is NOT how an elected official handles these types of situation.

Leave the personal issues at home and do your job as a Selectmen!

the biggest complainers about the police are the scumbags who continue to fuck up in this town!!..I reiterate: the reason for the tazers, for example, are because these idiots deserved to be tazed!!..why can't the police be left alone to do their jobs, dealing with the drugs, crimes, and other issues this town has become known for??..ever hear our nickname??..Brockton by the sea or the Brockton of Cape Cod is not how I want this town looked at..
