Just was on the S-T site. Seems somthing posted on here about the Town possibly stealing from the Employee Insurance trust may be very real.
Good job to the person on here that exposed that early. I will be curious to see how the Observer tries to spin this one.

I've heard this rumor for weeks now. If this is true, this could be a blockbuster problem for whomever authorized it.

The word from the teachers is that this health insurance fund has been in existence for several years and that each year, the surplus is supposed to be returned to the teachers. The suggestion is that for the past few years, that surplus has been transferred to the town budget to supplement it.
Isn't that what was happening to the sewer admin fee? And wasn't that decried as "immoral" by one of the bos--who according to ragboy have such high moral fiber?
Here is my question--why is it ok to transfer health insurance surplus as revenue to the town and not the sewer admin fee. Or another way, if it is not right to take sewer admin fee and transfer it to the town as revenue, shouldn't it be equally wrong to transfer the health insurance fund to the town as revenue?
And is it true that Sanguinet actually announced that he was doing that during a televised budget discussion? Any proof of that?

It is my understanding that this trust fund is for every town employee that pays a percentage of thier health insurance not just the teachers. The teachers which have the strongest union in town are the first ones to agrssively persue it. It is also my understaning that it would be a violation of state law to use this trust fund for anything else but insurance related issues.

MOST TOWN EMPLOYEES PAY INTO THE TRUST FUND INCLUDING MUNICIPAL MAINTENANCE, POLICE, TEACHERS.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MISSING MONEY , HAS IT GONE TO FUND LAWSUITS , HAS IT GONE TO FUND THE COMPUTOR ADUITS , THESE SELECTMEN WERE WORRIED ABOUT THE SEWER FEES , BUT THEY HAD NO WORIES ABOUT STEALING FROM THE TOWN EMMPLOYEES MONEY THAT BELOGED TO THEM , THEY DID NOT THINK THEY WOULD BE CAUGHT, THEY THINK TOWN EMPLOYEES NARE CRAP ANY WAY AND VALUE A LUMP OF SHIT MORE THAN THEY CARE ABOUT TOWN EMPLOYEES.

To be fair, this has allegedly happened for years which means it is not just this group of officials involved. Of course, if they have kept up the practice, then they are just as guilty as the previous administrations. What would happen if this proves to be true? Will the money have to be paid back? If so, where would that money come from?
