a perusal of the website of the Massachusetts Municipal Association (www.mma.org) turns up two (2) positions available in the Town of Wareham.
A posting there on 6/17/09 advertises the position of Town Accountant, with a deadline to apply of 7/1/09. Hmmm.... seems like a pretty narrow window.
But the more recent posting on 6/24/09 (that would be yesterday) is far more interesting. It is an advertisement for a (drum roll please)
TOWN ADMINISTRATOR!!!!!!!!
whodathunkit?
And, this offers a peek into the methodology used to pay for things, like, legal fees, to pick one at random.
To wit: leave positions open (TA, Acct, Planner, Edta, etc.), which builds a surplus in the salary accounts for these departments. Then, at the end of the fiscal year (June 30), transfer funds from the 'surplus' accounts to the 'deficit' accounts. These might include snow & ice removal ( a chronic deficit account), or LEGAL. kabish?
So, the bos can take the Alfred E. Neuman approach: "What? me worry?" Because, the funding for their legal war games builds day after day, week after week.....
Ya gotta know how to play the game.

Glad to see the selectmen are reading our blog. We already know ragboy does. We have been complaining on this blog for quite some time about the bos not advertising for a TA. Power to the people. Change can happen if enough people have a voice and that voice is heard (or read).

All they will do is hire the interim guy, andgive him the full pay for the job...reward for doing their dirty deeds. That's why the posting date is so short.

John Donahue reads us religously and, of course, we're paying Kopelman and Paige to read us every day. Hey, assholes, howz it goin'?
Bruce, I dunno beyond I'm sure he looks at the pictures. Lil Crony, fugetaboutit. BB and Jane, I don't think so. Walter Cruz, I would hope, is having second thoughts about this whole enterprise. Mary Ann Silva, and her willingness to play along with these crooks, surprises me most. She's not a confrontational, hateful person.

The time frame for Town Accountant applications is in line with their earlier posting in the Standard Times, which, by the way, only ran the one day:
Town Accountant Job Posting in May 10, 2009 edition of Standard Times (application deadline May 20, 2009)
It is easy to see why the bos/ita chose not to advertise in the S-T again, especially after the recent news coverage.
*** note: I purposely used lower case letters for 'bos/ita', since they do not deserve any level of recognition above the lower case personalities they show themselves to be ***
