Taken from the Slobserver......
Kopelman and Page will remain Town Counsel following a unanimous vote of the selectmen on Tuesday. Although selectmen are pushing for in-house counsel to deal mostly with land-use issues, they said there are too many ongoing issues facing the town to cut ties with Kopelman and Page just yet.
In other words, in-house counsel for issues K & P has advised us against, or would advise us against. Did you know K & P had no idea that the BOS hired special counsel for the Bliss and Bliss fiascos? Slager would never tell you that.
Selectmen decided not to vote on the 60 articles on the Town Meeting warrant until next week. They wanted to give the Finance Committee time to vote on the articles first. Selectman Brenda Eckstrom drew laughter from the crowd by saying she knew of 15 articles that she would not be supporting. It’s a good bet she was referring to the petition articles submitted by members of the Citizens for a Better Wareham.
The above statement should read, drew laughter from the BOS, Slager, and the Town Clerk. With the Town Clerk laughing so loud you know it's fake.
Selectmen thanked the generous contribution of Jackie Lindsey of the Wareham Village Association for offering to purchase a new POW-MIA flag to replace one that was damaged during a winter story. Municipal Maintenance will attach it to the Town Hall flag pole as soon as it arrives.
That's a good thing. I thank her too. I'm not always cynical
Speaking of Municipal Maintenance, the crew has cleaned out the drainage easement at the Onset Beach Mobile Home Park in preparation of having a camera view the piping. Flooding has been a constant problem there and a source of contention between residents, the town and the mobile home park owner. Municipal Maintenance has also started spring road work, sweeping the paved roads and grading the dirt and gravel roads. The work should be completed within a few weeks.
And now we are aiming to shit-can your boss, and lay 75% of you off. Thanks anyway.
The Board of Selectmen, acting on a request from interim town administrator John Sanguinet, approved an increase in the number of senior work-off participants to 75. Last year the town began a program that allows local seniors to work off their tax dept by offering their services to the town in a variety of capacities. For instance, several seniors checked parking stickers at town-owned beaches last year. Sanguinet asked department heads if they had 100 hours of work per senior. Sanguinet indicated that 45 seniors could cover current needs, but selectmen wanted to keep the number at 75 to better service the Wareham Free Library as well as the Council on Aging.
Good idea, but how much can they work off?
Selectmen engaged in a long discussion on the selling of Class 2 used car licenses. According to chairman Jim Potter one business – Wareham Foreign Auto Sales – placed two ads on-line attempting to sell its Class 2 license. He said an investigation revealed that the license wasn’t being used at that location and that the phone number for the business had been disconnected. The owner of the business was supposed to appear before selectmen on Tuesday for a public hearing, but requested a postponement. "We have not been in the practice of selling licenses," Potter said, noting that selectmen are the licensing authority for used car lots. "I’ve been there a number of times and the doors are always locked," said selectman John Cronan. The hearing was continued until next week.
What's this? Selectmen doing something they're supposed to? Are they on a break from shit-canning department heads?
Selectmen took issue with a request from harbormaster Michael Parola that municipal maintenance fill in potholes near his home on Maple Springs Road. "I wonder how quickly a street would be paved if just some resident requested it," said selectman Brenda Eckstrom.
So let me get this straight Brenda, if I'm an employee of the town, I'm not a resident? Wasn't it you dip-shits that wanted all department heads to live in town at one time? Hey Brenda, how quickly did the building department react to your request to have Defilice's construction project shut down (illegally of course.) Aren't you just a resident too?
The street has been a source of contention for some time. Selectmen believe it’s been damaged by trucks used by A.D. Makepeace as well as for earth removal from Brock Tucy’s property. Selectmen think somebody other than the town should pay to fix the road. Selectmen Bruce Sauvageau noted that the town would bare ultimate responsibility if nothing was done to fix the road and someone’s vehicle was damaged by a pothole. Selectmen Jim Potter suggested the town fix the road and place a weight limit for trucks using it.
Because Parola was the only one that complained, right? Isn't that why you just singled him out? EVERYBODY on that road complained months ago, and you still haven't acted.
Selectmen approved minutes of a 2007 executive session meeting by an unusual 1-0-3 vote. Three selectmen abstained. "Aren’t you glad I showed up tonight?" John Cronan asked with a smile. He was the lone voter.
Would love to read those minutes. Jane of course was MIA as usual.
A huge sign in front of Continental Motors on the Cranberry Highway near the Bourne town line left selectmen scratching their heads a little bit.
It's got me scratching my head too. Isn't it Continental Marina? Bob, your office is right across the street. Did you miss all the boats? Why let the facts get in the way, you never have before.
Apparently the owner plans on launching a Tiki Bar near Buttermilk Bay. The only problem is that the town has no more liquor licenses to give and there is already a waiting list.
You guys ever hear of a seasonal license? Even I know that the MARINA is closed in the winter. I'm willing to bet its going to play off their seasonal business. Why let commonsense get in the way? You never have before.
A certain newspaper publisher who shall remain nameless approached selectmen after the meeting and jokingly warned them not to prevent a Tiki Bar from opening across the street from the Observer’s office. Otherwise the paper will begin supporting the Citizens for a Better Wareham.
I've heard that you're already not welcome. You don't even know it's a Marina. How could you possibly know when you've had enough to drink?
Have a great weekend truth-bloggers and remember, there's a reason that Wareham is the only town that has a blogging community like this.

"A certain newspaper publisher who shall remain nameless approached selectmen after the meeting and jokingly warned them not to prevent a Tiki Bar from opening across the street from the Observer’s office. Otherwise the paper will begin supporting the Citizens for a Better Wareham." - The Ragman
I assume this was in response to my pointing out that the camera caught Ragman tripping over himself to run up and kiss Bruce's ass after Tuesday's meeting. Sorry Ragman, it was presumptuous of me to assume you were running up to tell Bruce he was awesome. I should have realized you were just worried about not having another place to pound down some cold ones. I know that'd be convenient for you. You and Brenda could just talk shop there instead of Rag HQ.
Oh and - "Otherwise the paper will begin supporting the Citizens for a Better Wareham." So, in other words, the paper currently support the board of selectmen? I thought the paper was a model of impartiality and non-partisanship? An odd statement for you to say, Ragman, since you boast about how you are your own man, beholden to no one.
Be sure to run and change it in 5 seconds.

These would of course be public record, should anyone get a copy they could always post them here. Anyone want to run down to the town hall and get a copy.

This is probably one of the most sad and pathetic things I have ever sen in print. The ragman is now trying to entertain a new audience, US!
The constant obsession with this site, the continual correction and changing of articles to address items posted on this site, and now this, it is so sad.
Look what you have become, you should be so proud as so may pity you.
Have a good weekend all, may the truth be with you.
