The document below passed around town a couple of years ago and I was shocked when I discovered no evidence of it here on Mr. Whitehouse's very own web site. Here's hoping it adds some fuel to the fire.
2007-10-01, Monday, 8:15pm: Renée Fernandes, Bill Whitehouse in brackets.
Bruce Sauvageau is a pathological liar. But then, everybody already knows that.
Back in 2003 when we made the decision to take the [Swift's Beach] property, Bruce did not disclose to us that he had previous dealings with Haupt. We were totally unaware of that.
[You know Mrs. Haupt sent certified letters of her refusal to all of you?]
No. She did not. We did not receive them. You see, I was under the impression and I believe I stood up and said at town meeting that the town administrator had in fact spoken to Mrs. Haupt and that, you know, everything was fine, you know what I mean? We were all in agreement.
If anyone requested the transcripts of that [fall 2003] town meeting, John Decas specifically stood up and asked the question of us whether or not we'd had any contact with Mrs. Deighton-Haupt and I said, yes, in fact, the town administrator had. Unbeknownst me at the time, she [Mrs. Haupt] was actually at town meeting that night and opted not to stand up and speak.
Now, the other part of your question I will answer for you, is you said...
[Did you know it was -only- nonresidents involved.]
No, but what I can tell you is shortly after we started discussing this whole eminent domain thing, Bruce arranged a meeting between me and a member of the Swift's Beach Improvement Association. I don't remember her name. We actually met at Uncle Sam's diner. It was Bruce, myself and this young woman. And we discussed a lot of things.
At that time we did not know- we knew that yeah, we were interested in the property but at that time we didn't now how we were going to pay for it. And they threw out that maybe the Swift's Beach Improvement Association would be willing to pay the interest on the debt if the town was willing to go borrow until such time as we were able determine how we were going to pay for the land.
I mean, a lot things were thrown out and I believe it was actually the Swift's Beach Improvement Association [SBIA] that paid for the signs posted around town before the meeting.
[You realize that nobody can produce a list of this particular organization and town manager Michael Hartman now says in his deposition he can not recall the names of any SBIA members?]
I have not read Mike's deposition.
I don't remember and if this were still 3 months ago, I may still have had some of my Selectmen's stuff but I was feeling confident I wasn't going to get involved in Wareham politics any more and chucked out a whole bunch of stuff.
[Do you know who promoted and arranged the use of CP funds?]
I really don't know how that came about.
[Because on the face of it, it seems an entirely inappropriate use of CP funds, isn't it?]
Well, we looked at it as an open space acquisition.
[Was Bruce present during any of the subsequent executive sessions discussing this issue?]
Absolutely. Bruce never recused himself. He voted and participated in EVERY executive session. As a matter of fact, talk to Cindy Parola for verification. She and Bruce had a massive disagreement one night about his Swift's Beach participation. Also part of that land episode was a piece of land belonged to Cindy's mother. And Cindy recused herself throughout the discussion because of that and said to Bruce as much one night, "I think you should recuse yourself also." And that ended up in a shouting match with Cindy storming out of the meeting. I don't know where the meeting minutes from executive sessions are from all those years back but...
My understanding is there is going to litigation, that lawyers will depose the former selectmen and I am worried. Look who's driving that wagon.
I remember looking at Bruce's reelection bid and seeing there are people out there who actually like what he's doing.

That's cute. Even corrected my typos.
You're looking at private email sent to three individuals; transcribed shorthand of a 10 minute telephone conversation.
This wasn't Wareham's finest moment and I could delete it, I suppose. But I won't.

IT IS CLEAR THAT BRUCE IS GUILTY OF LIEING UNDER OATH ABOUT HIS INVOLVEMENT IN THE SWIFTS BEACH LAND TAKEING AND TRYING TO INRICH HIMSELF AT THE TOWNS EXPENSE. ITS HIGH TIME THAT HIS FELLOW SELECTMAN AND LOCAL NEWSPAPPERS ASK HIM TO RESIGN OR STEP ASIDE TILL DECAS LAWSUIT IS OVER, IF THEY DONT THEN THEY ARE JUST AS GUILTY FOR LETTING BRUCE GET AWAY WITH THE THINGS HE HAS DOWN TO WAREHAM AND COSTING WAREHAM CLOSE TO 2 MILLION IN LAND AND LEGAL FEES. BRUCE YOU NEED TO RESIGN NOW.
