This time last year, Selectman Jim Potter publicly abused the police department for giving the annual Little League Parade a free pass, as it had for as long as anyone could remember.
At last week's meeting, Selectman John Cronan denounced the police for billing the Little League for a parade detail and instructed the Interim Town Manager to forgo the fee.
My only question is this. If you employ and exploit children to create distraction, how low will you stoop?

I remember they questioned that last year. The cops would provide traffic control and an escort as a courtesy to the little league if they had officers available and it only took a few minutes. But if the officers are needed for an urgent call then they have to drop what they are doing and respond to the call. The cops also do the same thing for large funeral processions passing through town. If there are officers available they will provide an escort and allow the procession to easily pass through intersections. The selectmen are slaming the cops for doing good deeds. How petty.
