THE DEATH OF FREE SPEECH!!!!

The selectmen have intervened and shut down the debate!  The word is that the BOS has called the CBW and ordered them to shut down the debate and they are preventing the cable access station from holding it.  Individual candidates have already received notice of the debate's cancellation.

Odd, we never saw the BOS talking about shutting the debate down in an open meeting, did we?

We now have a state run TV channel.

BOS controlled television, Gag orders on town employees, a lackey newspaper that does the BOS' bidding, now BOS intervention in a campaign to stop a debate...Welcome to Wareham, see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil!

The lengths these people are willing to go to keep their candidate from answering a few simple questions is STAGGERING!

Wow! That is crazy! I guess this is now the People's Republik of Wareham. Hey Slager, you one-sided hypocrite. Why are you not screaming about the selectmen squashing freedom of speech???

TBL SLAGER WAS THE ONE WHO STARTED THE CALL TO HAVE THE DEBATE SHUT DOWN. READ HIS OWN WEBSITE AND HE CALLED FOR THE CANDIDATES TO REFUSE TO ATTEND THE DEBATE.

Imagine, a debate shut down and the local TV station overruled just to prevent the BOS backed candidate from answering questions.

Any group, any individual, anyone, regardless of what views they may have, has the right to propose and invite candidates to take part in a debate.  In turn, any candidate has the right to turn down an invitation to a debate.  Any group has the right to continue on with a debate with any remaining candidates.  And the local access channel has the right to air any such event.

If Cruz felt that he would not be treated fairly in this debate, then it was his right to turn the invitation down.  That certainly would have been respectable.  But this debate was more than just the selectmen's seat, it included candidates for the school committee and the housing authority.  Every single candidate should be silenced just because the BOS' candidate does not want to participate?

Some free advice for the Hypocrite Elite - throw some ductape on the Ragman's mouth and let Cruz speak for himself.  I never heard of the guy before so I won't comment on his abilities, but you morons really are making it look like the guy needs to be protected from speaking and you're all generally making the guy look bad.

That's on you idiots.

"Public access" means public access, folks.  The public access channel has the right to cover any events going on in town and the selectmen are abusing their authority by shutting down their coverage of a debate.

This regime runs by controlling the flow of information with an iron fist, and they are really throwing down that iron fist of theirs hard with this one.

Too bad someone didn't take pictures with a camera set to stamp the date and time.   He is really too much.
Will Slager give him a jeer for that?   And gd forbid if anyone where to give him a ticket for a parking violation.  It must be nice to be a big scum who is painted as a saint.

Ragman is spinning overtime, you don't see a single quote from the CBW in that story that he rushed out, do you?  Get some sources other than Brenda, Ragman.  There's more to the story than the BOS' side.

Question - How does the Ragman claim a debate is biased when the Ragman was asked to be a moderator?

True, a debate moderated by the Ragman would crack all television screens in town with his hideous mug and people would get bored and flip the channel as they wait for him to stutter and stammer his way through a question (it's well known that his mouth  is nowhere near as strong as his pen), but if the Ragman was invited to sit in, I think he loses the bias argument.

Could you guys just imagine the ridiculous article that the ragman would write if Bruce was given a ticket for parking in that spot too long?

Not Slager, Bruce himself. He lives for that commoner buffoon schtick, though it really doesn't work for him.

At the risk of setting him straight...

Jay Heard writes today, "Neither I, nor any of my staff, has had any contact with the Board of Selectmen regarding policy at WCTV."

I think Jay's saying the Selectmen have no jurisdiction over what airs and what doesn't.

Which means - drumroll, please - WCTV might consider giving us a moment or two to entertain their viewers.

Ideas?
