Isn't it interesting that Slager twists the facts about the library to suit his purpose and to kiss up to the selectmen who hate the library so much they were willing to let it get decertified. They voted against returning money to the library's budget. So stop blaming Ms. Pizzolato.

I wrote a previous message explaining, or rather correcting, his usual incorrect information and he twists it yet again.

The 3 people who work 40 hours, including the acting director, do ALL the work done by the many people either let go completely or who had their hours cut in half. Do you think that just because the library is closed two days a week, that there have been fewer patrons taking out fewer books on the days the library is open? Or fewer people needing help, including students when the library is open? The full time people work MORE than 40 hours a week catching up on the work that can't be done when the library is open. That includes all the paper work, stocking shelves, returning books etc. I guess that if you run a hack tabloid with no other reporters, you don't have a clue as to how a business is run. You can't cut your staff less than half and expect all the work to be done in the same number of hours. Duh. Isn't he complaining about how hard it is to run a trash tabloid by himself??? Boo hoo.

You could have flunked Journalism 101 and gotten the information correct. But no, he just smears the library and the fine people who work there.

And did he really listen to the radio? Ms. Pizzolato did not complain about the budget. He didn't "hear" it. He MADE IT UP. Oh right, that was why he was fired from one of his previous jobs. He made up quotes or changed quotes to suit his needs. Even Liz went around telling everyone that not only did Slager not pay her, he changed her text. That still doesn't let her off in my book for perpetuating this absolutely absurd hatred of a library. A LIBRARY for heavens sake. Not exaclty the evil den of nasty library staff and trustees and Friends he keeps saying it is.

This bos are pathetic and they hate so many people and have so many personal vendettas that it is hard to keep track.  What other bos can't get along with any town administrators, any department heads, any boards that don't do their bidding? I've never seen or heard of such a thing.

I know that the chief will win against Slager, and I hope he brings charges against the bos too. Also, the trustees will easily win their case. When Slager was wrong about the recall, he had to twist it and tie it to the trustee's legal case. If you can't get the facts, make them up is his motto.

Well, enough from me. Let me close by saying I've been in the library recently, and the staff was running ragged, but took the time to help me with my request. So thanks to the library staff and the acting director for keeping things going under such a hostile town environment.

That kind of behavior is usually a kiss of death to a news career, even in sport reporting and it alarmed me when I first noticed Slager four years ago. It wasn't sloppiness, in his case, it was standard practice. By then, I confess, I already knew who he was and what he was doing here.

Chain newspapers have poached weak markets in one another's territories at least 40 years. The tip off is always, always, free home delivery; always a prohibitive expense, unless you're only shaking down a competitor and expect to make it all back when they fork over the ransom.

Nothing illegal about it. Morally questionable? Sure. I've participated in these shenanigans myself and it really is barrels of fun giving ill-served communities the news coverage they deserve.

Slager deviated from the norm in a number of different ways but most important - and sadly for us - he didn't take the money and run. Also, and this confused me at the time, Slager's Wareham Bulletin campaign took way too long. It would surprise me greatly if the Boston Herald budgeted his bucket shop for more than six months.
