It was great to see the clip of the "Kingfish"

If you ever get the time, do a little Internet research or go to the library and read about Huey Long...............Most amusing

That 1934 clip opened a 1985 Ken Burns documentary of Huey Long. Also see All the King's Men, a novel by Robert Penn Warren of the same subject first published in 1946 and later made into a movie.

We've had more than our own share of colorful scoundrels right here.

The Last Hurrah is a 1956 novel by Edwin O'Connor made into a well received movie two years later staring Spenser Tracy and based on the exploits of former Boston Mayor James Michael Curley. Curley, you may recall, served a significant part of his last term in office from jail.

A Choice of Enemies, a 1984 novel by George V Higgins, is loosely based on the life of John "The Iron Duke" Thompson, Speaker of the MA State House. The book is notable for many things, among them its many Wareham references.
