Sources tell this Guy Incognito that Mike has moved out of town but has not yet tendered his resignation. He has missed the last two selectmen's meetings and though he had been a frequent attendee of finance committee meetings, he has not attended any for awhile.
Some continue to tell me that they believe there is a provision in the town charter or bylaws or somewhere that says when a selectman is elected then runs off from his seat like a coward before 6 months passes, then the seat automatically goes to the runner (next highest vote getter), which in this case, would be Jennifer Petersen.
I do not know if this provision exists. No selectman has ever ran away from his duties so quickly before so a situation like this has little precedent and people don't know what to do.
Some believe that a Hypocrite Elite conspiracy is afoot - that they want to hold this seat open as long as they can until they can figure out a way to get one of their buddies in it.
My two pieces of advice:
1) If this provision does exist, don't wait for the Hypocrite Elite to do the right thing and ask Mike to step aside. Call on the selectmen (again, if there is such a provision) to get involved. Assuming that she would still want it, the seat (under this alleged provision) would go to Petersen.
2) If the provision does not exist, call on Mike to resign immediately so that a special election can be scheduled. Call on the tin hats to dig into their pockets to fund the special election, since they're the idiots that gave us this guy.
3) If he refuses to resign, take out the recall papers immediately.
All I know is that if you read the Tin Hat chat last night, they were like a pack of rabid feral hyenas fighting over the last piece of steak. They were duped and used, but they refuse to admit it and making wild and crazy accusations about a power elite conspiracy.
Again, all of this stupidity could have been avoided if Mike had just been a man, stepped up to the microphone, and told the town he's leaving. People should have heard this news from their selectman, not the blogs. Anything he says now at this point will be too little, too late.
