Much has been said about voter apathy lately, and it is true, it is out there.
However, in times when the chips were down and there was advance notice of an incompetent proposal brought by the bumbling and stumbling Hypocrite Elite, we have managed to get enough people out to save the town from their stupidity. We saved Wareham from the moronic Mayor plan. We saved Wareham from the "back door Mayor plan." We saved Wareham from multiple moronic CRC proposals. We stopped Westfield multiple times until, well you know the old saying, the fifth time's the charm.
The point is, the health care trust fund issue - this was a proposal that involved over a million dollars. It should have had an article all by itself. Citizens should have been given advance notice before town meeting.
Here's a helpful hint for the TA - THE BUDGET SHOULD BE BALANCED BEFORE TOWN MEETING BEGINS!!!
No more of this late, slapdash, haphazard let's slap it together at the last minute bullshit. The fin com is not getting the budget information they need in a timely fashion. Crap is just thrown together at the last minute.
Yes, as long as the working people of our side only have X amount of time to devote to town politics, while the unemployed and unemployable clowns of the Hypocrite Elite can spend morning, noon, and night on plots for revenge on any who stand in their way...there will always be voter apathy.
However, I do think, given some advance notice, this dipping into the health care trust fund could have been defeated.
Voter apathy? Yes. However, ask around and I think you'll find that most people thought that unlike past years, there wasn't much controversy coming up at this year's town meeting. That's by a reading of the warrant though - I guess now you have to expect all kinds of crap to be inserted at the last minute.
Had Steve Holmes not posted anything about it, the townspeople would never even known about it until it happened on town meeting floor. No wonder Ellen flipped her lid at him posting it.

Some teachers have asked how this affects them and were somewhat pleased with the fact they'll save a few bucks for three months..they were none too happy to hear that beyond this year, our already minimum funded schools could be in deep trouble with no Trust Fund to raid next year..there will almost certainly be a loss of jobs, so was it worth the savings?

We Have Life Guards In Fancey Duds , Summer Policemen For Show , W Ehave No Full Time Planner Or Head Of The Edic To Help Whareham Grow Jobs , Our Financial Picture Is A Mess , Our Library Is A Shell Of Its Former Self ,no Quality Of Life Here , The Junior High On The States List Of Under Per Forming Schools For How Maney Times Now . Yet We Elect People With No Vision ,people Like Ellen And Mike ,know Bloggers On Slagers Hate Website , Who Are Interested In Settleing Old Scores. In Another Post Bill Asks Who Comes To Wareham It Used To Be Great People Who Valued Wareham And Its Costlines , I Wonder Does It Attract Nuts Now Like The Doctor , Brocton Brenda Eddie The Know It All , The Guy Who Likes Hawian T Shirts And Wareham Is Not Hawaii, Bruce The Bad Check Passer And There Kind , If We Keep Attracting People Like That Then Wareham Will Be In The Crapper For Along Time To Come.
