I have allready recieved several calls and emails about the story. More important to me is that my parents and his wife were proud of it. That means more than anything!

I just realized that this is the best time of year to send whatever donation you can for peaches's brother. I just dropped my check in the mail today, but I know that Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming, and now is the time to act. I hope some of you attend the fundraiser at the Elks. I am sure it will be a privilege to meet peaches and her family, and it sounds like a heck of a time for the price.

All monies go to the family.

Peaches, I still pray for you and your family every day and will until we know that Jeff is on his feet and able to catch those big assed fish again!

Please send my sincere thoughts to your entire family and especially your parents. I know what they are going through :).

Everyone else, please help with what you can. We all know some of us have no money to spare at all, and that is OK. Your prayers are worth more than dollars sometimes.

Please send what you can and let's all hope that Jeff is able to write us a thank you on this site someday!

I already have a good name for him : Bigfishman...just a thought.

Great name Dan, and thanks for your donation. You are so right about the prayers meaning as much to us as donations. We are so greatful to the wonderful people of this town for the outpouring of support. There are no words to express how we feel. I look forward to meeting some of you if you can come to the benefit.

Jeff had a setback on Friday. They found an increase in the swelling so they started him on a new treatment and since then he has responded very well. He had his eyes open and his wife told him he was sick but the worst was over and that he just had to keep fighting. She then took his hand and told him that she loved him and he nodded his head. This is huge as it's the first time he responded to a voice and moved his body to do so!

We are hoping that things start getting better from here. Keep your prayers coming! They are working!!

Went to visit my brother yesterday.  He again kept his eyes open alot while I was there. He is having a hard time focusing, but at least he is responding. I can't explain how painfully slow this has been. I also can't imagine what he must be thinking as he's laying there trying so hard to wake up. I know some day it will happen but I'm super impatient!

Today was hard, Jeff was moved to a long term rehab in Salem until he wakes up more. It's almost two hours from here so it's going to be hard to get to see him. We chose it because it's the best, and this is about him not us or our convenience. Please keep him in your thoughts. When he "wakes up" more, hopefully he will move closer.

Hard from peaches yesterday. The fund raising is going well. She has already raised enough to cover Jeff's mortgage for a couple of months. The response has been "overwhelming". I hope everyone on this site has done what they can.

I am sure we will her an update by peaches in the next few days, but obviously her time has been extended quite a bit with the new ride they have to make to see the "Bigfishman".
Please keep the prayers coming.

Hi all! Wanted to share the great news! Jeff was put in a chair today and has been sitting in it for more than an hour. His eyes are wide open and though he can't communicate with us, he is definately paying attention to what is going on around him!!
I wanted to thank you all for your prayers and encouragement. I know this may seem like a small step, but to us it's a milestone!

Went to Salem to see Jeff today. Had a good visit. He squeezed my and today! I was pretty happy about that. My cousin came with me and told me that the most reaction she saw all day from his was when I was yapping in his ear. That really made my day.  Six weeks today and he is still fighting hard! I hope one day soon he really wakes up and is able to sit up and tell me to shit the hell up!!

You deserve to be able to throw out a few expletives, peaches.....your sense of humor is what keep you going, and it is what keeps us in "your corner".

Prayers are helping, but you are the foundation of your family....It will be a privilege to meet you some day!

Hi all,

I know I haven't posted in a bit so here it goes.  Jeff is making some improvements. His facial expressions have started to come back. The speech therapist but a lemon swab in his mouth and hi licked his lips and seemed to swallow which was pretty big. He was able to grasp (of all things) a squid rig yesterday. A squid rig is a fishing lure used in tuna fishing. I found that pretty amusing. The doctors were happy with that yesterday. They said his facial muscles would be first to come back. They said his arms / hands will be next and his legs will come last.

He is still very, very sleepy but now when his is awake his is much more focused. When I saw his last weekend he was looking right at me and was moving his mouth as if he were trying to talk to me. I told him that he coudln't talk yet (because of the trach) but I knew he could here me and he raised his eyebrow to me in response.

Thanks to you all for your continued support.

GREAT news, Michelle!
I hope the fund raising is going well. I know that at this time of year it is difficult to spend money, especially large families.

I hope the funds keep coming into you and your family through the trust account, and I hope your event at the Elks in Middleboro will be a huge success. I hope you will have the chance to meet folks on this site. I think you will be pleased and impressed. They are a special group!!

We are all still praying hard for you, Michelle.
