WAREHAM — The Town of Wareham Appointing Authority is seeking candidates for a number of vacancies that exist in various areas.
They include single openings on the Capital Planning Committee and the Finance Committee and several on the Fields and Grounds Committee.
The Capital Planning Committee is responsible for the development of a capital outlay program for the town and studies, reviews and reports its recommendations on any capital outlay articles that come before Town Meeting. The term is for three years.
The Finance Committee considers all matters of business included within the articles of Town Meeting and issues recommendations on spending. The term is also for three years.
The Fields and Grounds Committee was established by Town Meeting in 1995 to coordinate and plan for the maintenance and improvement of existing playing fields and prioritize the addition of new facilities.
There are seven members appointed to this committee: two by the school superintendent, two by the Town Administrator and three by the Appointing Authority.
Applications are available at the selectmen's office or on the town website. Interviews for the Fields and Grounds Committee will be held Monday.

If you apply for an appointment on a committee, be prepared for your televised interview by the BoS. They are really concerned about your qualifications for the specific committee you apply to. For example, if you apply to the Fin Com, it might be helpful to have some finance background. Or if you apply to capital planning you might be expected to have some knowledge of capital outlay articles.
If past experience is a guide, it really doesn't matter what committee you are applying for. Be prepared for some of the interview questions you most likely will be asked.
1. Do you blog??
2. Are you friends with or do you know any of the bloggers??
3. Do you read the blog?
4. Are you a member of the Friends of the WFL??
5. Are you friends with or do you know any of the Friends of the WFL??
Answer "yes" to any of these questions and you can kiss an appointment good bye!!

Laugh if you must but my "Pave The Bay!" ajenda is a sure fire cracker. Anything worth doing, though, is worth doing for money. I'll insist on title bout betting. And if appointed, I'll demand a recount.
