Who is Cara Winslow trying to protect? The Chief's reputation can be destroyed, and that's ok by her I guess, but those who destroyed it should remain anonymous? Are you kidding me? I have a feeling I know who was behind the smear campaign............ "
Thanks to P-Span we can all watch the video and see what was said. First Mrs. Winslow repeats what she has said over and over through two campaigns, there is no place in this community for racism. That was actually quite predictable because it seems to be her standard line. Next she questions whether the names of two individuals (now identified by rag man as Wayne Sylvester and Dennis Damata) who are mentioned in the letter from the attorney are appropriate to release to the public since they may have now or in the future may have litigation against the town.
Consequently rag man reports that both these individuals have pending discrimintaion law suits against the town. Well, that came as somewhat of a surprise to one of them! Exactly why I believe she didn't want the names out there. Whatever matter the attorney is representing them in is a matter for Executive Session.
Further, Mrs. Winslow clearly stated several times that she had not seen the letter before, finally Jane admitted that they had discussed it in ES the night Winslow went home sick, and none of them thought that important enough to bring her up to speed on?
The bottom line here is this, rag man and his TFHC will forever associate one retired police officer and one active police officer with this situation, guilty by association as they say. I do hope they both discuss their options with their attorney because a call to the Secretary of State's office yesterday revealed to me that in fact the names should have been redacted before the report was given to the Board. If someone wanted to challenge the redaction they could but considering that there is currently no pending litigation, only a PERSONNEL matter and neither of them was advised that they would be discussed at the meeting, nor were they there to defend their own reputations (keep in mind one is an active police officer in the community) it appears that Wareham's stellar Selectmen may have brought on more problems for themselves. Only two on them, Homes and Winslow seemed to pick up on the issue at all.
One thing that I did find intriguing is that after watching the video, no one ever mentions that there is actual litigation or the nature of the litigation. I ask myself, is someone giving Bobo confidential information again? Or, is Bobo just trying to connect the dots instead of doing any real investigation? Either way, what happened to the Police Chief was wrong, no one should ever make an allegation such as that unless it is true. That goes for Bruce calling Charles Pillsbury a racist and Brenda asking if Cara Pillsbury's husband is cheating on her. Yes good folks, what is good for the goose is good for the gander.
That being said, I still do not believe that Stanley is the right man for the job. That doesn't mean I think he has done a bad job.
Finally, it is absolutely inapprpriate to print the "n" word, any journalist with class writes (racial expletive) like Wareham Week did.
