that's a shame.

he always seemed to be one of the good guys to me. Someone who put the interests of the Town of Wareham first, in his specialty.

Here's hoping that he has snagged a better position somewhere.

Good luck, Mike.

Ham of Peace here.

Congratulations are in order.

Congratulations to Mr. Parola.  You served the town well and did a fine job.  This is a big loss for Wareham.  Best of luck in your future endeavours.

Congratulations to the Hypocrite Elite.  I think there's only a couple of names left on your hit list to check off now.

And finally, congratulations to whatever Merrimack Valley flunky with rudimentary rowboat paddling skills that will no doubt be hired over qualified Harbormaster department employees.

The hitlist is down to three, in order of importance to the Commies:
1. Mark Gifford
2. Matt Underhill (oh by the way, someone please give me the name of a private vendor that would work Memorial Day, that is right folks, Mr. Underhill worked yesterday while the rest of the town ate hotdogs and burgers)
3. John Foster

Mixed emotions here.  I didn't want to see him go, but there is only so much a decent person can tolerate.  I am glad that he no longer has to deal with the "hit list holders".

Congratulations, Mike.  You did a fantastic job as Harbor Master and we won't forget that, ever.  Enjoy your summer.  You will be missed.

A horrible loss for Wareham.  I'm glad for Mike and sad for Wareham.

Good luck Mike...   You're the best harbormaster on the East Coast and will be sorely missed.

During my small boat journey from Northern Newfoundland to Buzzards Bay a few years ago I had the rare opportunity to meet and interact with many, many, harbormasters, from the place where I started, surrounded by ten story icebergs, all along the coasts of Nova Scotia, Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts, to Mass Maritime ,where I finished . Without any hesitation , I can say that our own Mike Parola was ,and still is,the best of them all .    Wareham has just let a real "keeper" get away . Shame on all of us for letting the quality of our town's elected leadership slip away from us.  We've started the process of "getting our act together", but now let us use this great setback to help energize us to finish the  BOS restoration challenge on our next voting

Are any of those Merrimack Valley towns even close to water?  I'll have to look that up.  Oh well, no matter, if anyone within 30 miles of New Hampshire knows how to paddle a canoe, they'll be hired before any Warehammers.

Recently, I had the pleasure of having a candid conversation with Mr. Parola as he left the Selectmen's meeting (video?) where he had given a glowing report of the status of his Department. The Selectmen seemed to be in agreement that he was doing a great job.

I asked Mr. Parola  about the availability of moorings, the clamming policies and the source of the polution in the shell fish beds bordering Swifts Beach.  The Municipal Dept's workers were in the process of rebuilding the conduit pipes that drain the Marsh areas Northeast of the Playground into the ditch in anticipation of the summer mosquito season.

He reluctantly agreed that the untreated road and surface drainage was probably contributing to the polution of Buzzards bay.  I guess that is why the Town posts those bright red signs 12 months of the year warning residents that clamming might be dangerous.

I hope Mike finds another position where his fine work is appreciated.

Rag man has posted a copy of the resignation letter on his website. The resignation letter is not a public document. It is a personnel matter. I do not know how he got it but it should be removed immediately. It is entirely inappropriate to publish such a document, not to mention unethical and Mr. Parola may have recourse against whoever (Brenda?) gave it to him.
