He was still there when I voted at 1:15, so apparently it's more than a necessary partisan nod to the Democratic Town Committee.

That said, even if the challengers sweep the election we still won't have a majority, so it may be necessary to shorten our memories in the interests of using the next year trying to undo at least some of the damage inflicted over the last several years.
