Good evening, all.

There are stomach butterflies tonight. first, because a little, virtually unknown school I attended for graduate courses after my BS degree is in the NCAA final B-Ball tonight. Yes, Butler U., which I attended from 1967-68, before heading back here to UMass/Amherst.

but, of course, the prime generator of the stomach flipping is tomorrow. So let's talk about turnout.

1. Mr. Brady's meeting. Remember that? it seems so long ago, doesn't it. Lost in all of the noise generated from Halifax (not JUST the flatulence), lost in the red herring attempt by curley the stooge, is the remarkable TURNOUT at that meeting. Some 200 individuals turned out to protest the very same machinations of the BoS that we report on a daily basis right here. Think of that for a moment. That were more people at Mr. Brady's meeting than many, many Town meetings see in terms of turnout.

And for what? There was no warrant, no money articles, no westfield project to vote on. there was just a lot of people with the same basic understanding of how & why this BoS, aided & abetted by its lackey mouthpiece, was off the mark.

although they have spent countless hours in denial, there is a powerful message, is there not?

2. Town meeting. Nearly 500 hundred people turned out. 500! the majority of which were characterized as having "black hearts", remember? The majority of which were characterized as "assholes", remember? The majority of which earned these sobriquets by exercising their right to vote.

Lost in all of this, lost in the Misfit (that would be none other than curley the stooge) and his mishandling of the closing of the first night of Town meeting is the following: when was the last time that there was such a TURNOUT at Town Meeting?

Although they spent countless hours in attack mode, there was a powerful message there, was there not?

3. April 6, 2010: So here we are. And, once again, it is all about TURNOUT. Political junkies will tell you that low turnout favors the incumbents. That means that it is IMPERATIVE that we all get out the vote.

Send a message.

Continue the progression: mr. Brady's meeting.... to Town Meeting.... to the Ballot box.
