Peace Bloggers,
Drop whatever you're doing and read this letter to the editor from Steven Curry in the Courier. It exposes so much BOS BS that it would be funny, if it weren't so....oh, you know the rest.
http://www.wickedlocal.com/wareham/high … uter-audit
You've been lied to, Wareham. Are you going to take it lying down, or are you going to go to the ballot box April 6 and do something about it?
Thank you Mr. Curry for shedding some light on the facts.

Letter: Looking at the facts of the town’s computer audit
Posted Mar 24, 2010 @ 01:48 PM
To the editor:
Information has been made available and obtained through the Freedom of Information Act that shows the costs and what was being looked for in the infamous computer audit. From the invoices of the parties involved, the town has spent $58,000 on the audit, approximately $46,000 on the computer diagnostic company and $12,000 on legal fees to town counsel and special counsel. In a copy of the minutes of the executive session of May 26, 2009, a week after the copying of the computers was done, the scope of work, or the job of the computer diagnostic company, was to research the following:
· GDF scope would consist of who is blogging on Town Hall computers to Whitehouse site.
· Who is using company time to be on the internet.
· Name search of selectman to see who is investigating them.
· Outside businesses being run on town computers.
· Double log vs. private log at police station.
· Who is performing Cori, DMV, outside searches of selectmen and Mr. Coleman.
It appears that the reasons for the audit were to see who was looking up stuff on the selectmen and not corruption, money laundering and pornography as told. The majority of this information could have been obtained, I am told, with a computer program that costs about $2,000, which our IT department has been asking for five years now. By copying all town computers, state and federal privacy laws may have been violated in copying the treasurer/collector’s office. The treasurer’s office handles payroll, and payroll accounts have Social Security numbers, bank account numbers for direct deposit, pension accounts and any court ordered payments. This affects about 500 employees, from town employees to the school department. The town clerk’s office was also copied, which contains birth records and private information that is supposed to be nonpublic. The information was copied by a third party. State and federal laws state that if private financial information is copied by third parties, then it must be reported, and the persons whose information was copied must be notified, and the town has not done that (Executive Order 504 for the state; Gramm, Leach, Bliley act for the federal).
Procurement laws may not have been followed, as any work done over $25,000 must be posted for bid and the bids opened to award the work. The town has said that they did not need to follow procurement laws, as the computer company was obtained from a third party. The third party was town counsel. The bills and responses I received from the town, however, show the town paid the computer company directly, not to the third party.
Lastly, the letter the town received from the District Attorneys office on the audit concluding their involvement states that they are sending all the info to the State Ethics Commission and the Inspector General’s office for their review of this matter. Secondly, when the selectman stated that the DA’s office came in and took the computers tapes without their knowledge and permission is false. The town received a court summons to appear at the grand jury and to bring all copies of the discs copied when they appeared July 10, 2009. As of the 17th, they had not complied.
In closing, it is the right of every voter, citizen and taxpayer to question their leaders and elected officials. If you are looking for answers, ask questions. Do not believe one newspaper or one source who may give one side of the story. Remember the old saying: there are three sides of a story, yours, mine and the truth, and the fourth is what you read in the papers. Check the sources, ask the questions and find the truth, then make your decision on what is fact or fiction.

Another lie by slager saying that it only cost 40k . What could we have done with this money instead of seeing who picks on sweet brucey. And the current bos wants to continue this witch hunt with our tax money. Vote them out

The local papers, included the Bobo Gazette, all previously reported that audit info was passed to the IG quite some time ago. But boo hoo, the selectmen and their buddy want you to think they were left without enough time to go over the info before the election as some kind of DA plot. The IG and Ethics Commission have been going over it for awhile now according to the above quote.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't the BOS and a local Cream Cheese Consumer been screaming that the DA took all of the audit discs without any notice or good reason, and after a year of those claims, we hear from this letter writer that the town received a court summons to appear at the grand jury with the discs?
April 6....April 6...April 6!!!

Enough is enough! When Jane Donahue spoke about "not being finished" with the computer discs at this week's Selectmen Meeting I was miffed. After reading this letter, I am furious! We should make sure every citizen in town has a copy of this letter! Our Selectmen have lied to us!
Every citizen in town needs to show up at the polls and send a message to our elected officials that we will tolerate spending OUR money on personal vendettas. Let's make this election count.

May I take a little jab at this tale? Being a retired stay at home with my beautiful grandchild grandmother I have more time on my hands then I know what to do with! That means I get to talk to lots of people and ask questions.
Quoting from Bobo's "article" quoting Sweet Brucey: "The DOR soundly rejected his claims last year so, two weeks before the election, he is trying to discredit the board once again.”
If my old memory serves me correctly the DOR letter didn't quite say that, tomorrow I am going to request a copy so us bloggers can see how soundly the DOR rejected the claims.
Quoting from Bobo's "article": "In his letter Curry also claimed that the town’s IT office repeatedly asked to put a $2,000 program in place that would have monitored computer activity within Town Hall and was denied.
“I have looked for such a written request from the IT’s office and have never seen one,” Sauvageau said. “The reason we had to hire an outside firm is because the IT office said they weren’t able to do such an audit in-house. Does anyone realistically believe the town would not have spent only $2,000 to do the audit itself if that was an option? Come on. Be serious."
This is actually pretty funny, let's see, if IT askes for something why does that mean it is in writing and come on Sweet Brucey, we may have been born at night but not last night! Why would you ask an IT guy who you don't trust to conduct an audit? You never asked IT and if you did, please show us in writing.
Quoting from Bobo's "article": “In his letter Curry completely ignores the fact that he was the first person who tried to stop this audit,” Sauvageau said. “He completely ignores the fact that the DOR said in a letter that Curry’s concerns about privacy issues were unfounded. Curry doesn’t even identify himself as chairman of the Board of Assessors in his letter. He’s trying to pass himself off as just a resident with no interest in the outcome of the audit.”
Sauvageau said he expected a political adversary of the board to launch “a smear bomb” before the election.
“If this was their best shot, that’s pretty sad,” he said. “I am disappointed in the Courier, though. You would think that they would at least do some fact checking before printing something like that.”
I am just about peeing my pants I want to type this so badly! Mr. Curry is trying to pass himself off as just a resident, he is a resident! Now here we have Bobo trying to pass himself off as a journalist who went on the Courier site to tell people to come seek truth at his site. Dear Lord, I never thought I'd see the day!
I am disappointed in the Courier too, they have printed every lame duck I love the BOS letter they have received. They printed a letter from John Donahue that directly attacked every challenger. This isn't a "smear bomb" Mr. Chair, this is a taxpayer holding you accountable to record in office. Man up! And please, make sure the parents of the children who are losing their sports programs understand how much money you have invested in this alleged "corruption".
In almost a year not a single person who has been charged by the "journalist" with corruption has been charged with a crime. Allegations are allegations, facts are facts. Guilt is determined by a court of law, not by a wanna be new guy.
The real shame of all this, and I mean this sincerely, is that when Robert Slager came to town he held a great deal of promise. The community was desperate for a real community paper. He chose to be partisan, he chose to take a side and when he made those choices he alientated many. He has relentlesly attacked the reputation of a dead woman. He has relentlessly attacked those who challenge the incumbents (remember Sweet Brucey saying this was his last term?) He has made allegation after allegation of corruption, why aren't these people being charged with a crime?
I just want to know, how come only Bobo and the BOS are right? How can so many others be wrong?

Once again the BOS just does not understand or follow the law. Misuse of public funds is a very very serious offense. There is more then enough hard evidence that is being delivered to the IG who handles such cases to show that criminal charges should be filed. Also with their constant disregard for the law and repeated violation from the DA, they will not be given any breaks. Trust me this is going to be the final nail in the coffin once and for all they will be held accountable. They can twist it however they want but the IG is in town to investigate misuse of public funds and guess what they are learning. Be careful what you wish for.
