I think it is always fun to prognosticate about the coming year.
I predict the following for 2010 in Wareham.
Even if I am right 40% of the predictions, I will surpass most people who engage in this activity.
1) There will be a flood of political activity for those who are seeking office for the positions of Selectman, Moderator and Town Clerk.
2) The troll will be out of business by the 15Th of March ("Beware the ides of March) for the following reasons: His cash infusion will cease once the machine backing him realizes he will hurt their cause more than further it. They will not want to be tainted by incompetence, blatant lies and accusations not backed up by fact or proof. He will be more of an albatross than a link to the voters.
3) At least two new Selectmen will be elected, possibly more. A recall effort will start and the persons who are the center of the effort will resign office before they will risk the embarrassment of losing big to political newcomers.
4) The Moderator will be replaced. Possibly by a woman.
5) Lt. Bliss will be paid thousands in lost wages and compensatory damages. He will not return to work, but may seek to take the Chief's exam, and possibly be the only candidate that is a Wareham resident that has a chance at the position.
6) The Chairman of the BOS will be sued again by someone who has already taken him to the cleaners. It will be his demise, and he will not be able to campaign and fight off the law suit at the same time.
7) The CRC will be laughed off of Town Floor and many will resign in embarrassment and disgust.
8) The new BOS will call for a Chief of Police exam, rehire necessary people within Municipal Maintenance, work to resolve the nitrogen and sewer problems, and ensure that citizens are allowed access to the members of the BOS and the TA without political interference.
9) The new BOS will ensure transparency, and will NEVER violate the sunshine laws to further their own agenda.
10) A committee will form composed of business and civic leaders to re-establish a goal for the betterment of Wareham and to further the economic well being of the Town by encouraging business to locate and operate during the summer months.
11) You will never hear anyone mention the troll again after July.
I hope others will add to this.

Good list DanO..
I'm not big on "predicting"..But, Wareham is on a path toward (positive) change today.
It began a long time ago, and has been helped along (ironically) by the failings of the "powers that be"...Tired of sitting back and wishing the Town was run efficiently and effectively, citizens banded together in the spirit(s) of community and democracy to exercise their rights (granted us by "Our Creator" and the USA)..If we remain on this path we will help our Town, our lives..our whole "environment". I want to thank all of you, and a special thanks to Bill (who gets the "catalyst" award)..There are too many others to single out, and that would be against the whole "community" thing anyway.
Together we stand, divided we fall.
