Bryanne Tucy
My name is BRYANNE TUCY pronounced 2-C for those who have a hard time saying it right, and I carry that last name with COMPLETE HONOR!! I am not writing this out of anger, in fact I can't seem to stop crying latley.... With out saying too much I just wanted to take the time and thank everyone who has shown understanding to the pain and struggles my FATHER is faced with..he is a good man and doesn't deserve any of it, no one deserves to go through what he has for the past 2 1/2 years.. 100 years this has been in my family, and yes this year would be our 50th anniversery.. I think alot people have the thought that my FATHER is a 'lucky man' to own this but as proven over the past couple years, lucky doesn't play into it.. AT ALL... his stress is another mans pleasure and he LIVES to make EVERYONE ELSE happy BUT himself, and this is the outcome of it..man I can't stop crying.. i am sorry...  he is so much stronger than any man can possibly be, a little example..my son went to his fathers for the wknd this past wknd, so i took the oppertunity to stay home and just cry cry cry, and come Monday I didnt show up for work, (i work for him in the office)  my phone rings, its him, wanting to know if I was ok, ME not HIM, but ME... he asked are you sick, is everything ok, you didn't show up for work and I was worried something was wrong.. Dad I said, I am sorry i just can't stop crying, its killing me, he said, well Bry crying isn't going to change anything and you need to stay strong for your son.. Little Brock.. ok so make sure you are here tomorrow and I Love You..  point of that story.. AGAIN worried about someone other than HIMSELF..  Well sorry if I rambled on, but again thank you to everyone who has shown thier supprort for my Dad.. hopefully a miracle will happen, after all it is the Christmas season...      I LOVE YOU DAD, STAY STRONG

Bryanne:
Your dad is right, you need to stay strong! It is a terrible shame what is happening, this really shouldn't be about Brock Tucy. This should be about what is best for the community. The land owned by your dad best serves the community in its current state.

Currently as I understand it there is 600+ acres of land dedicated to camping and cranberry bogs. Now I do not know how many acres are bogs but I do know that for some reason in my mind the campground is at least 400 acres of land. This land is home to all sorts of wildlife, undeveloped (except for the camp sites), and contains streams which the herron run.

In addition to the absolutely beautiful nature the land offers, and the wildlife that calls it home, the campground also attracts tourism. Hundreds of families camp each week, true many are seasonal families, and they bring dollars to Wareham. They spend money in local restaurants, shops, and activities. Many seasonal (and non-seasonal) campers have been camping at Maple Park for generations. Unlike other tourists, campers do not rent a room and spend their money over the bridge. Many of them participate in the various activities offered by the park. They shop at local grocery stores, order pizza from local pizza parlors.

I could go on and on, but it comes down to this, is it better for the community to preserve 600+ acres of relatively undeveloped land or have a developer build hundreds of units of housing? I think we all know the answer, now the question becomes, how do we as a community preserve the land and the icon that is Maple Park?

Hang in there, Bryanne, for all three generations you cited. My kids have hung tough for me thru many travails, and it would have been so much more difficult without them behind me, and beside me.

Take your own words to heart, STAY STRONG.

Good luck.

Thank the bos on this one. I guess two ladies on maple springs were more important than running a business. Stay strong.

Bryanne I remember seeing your dad the last time he was in front of the BOS and how emotional he was. He almost broke down a couple of times while trying to explain what the BOS was doing to his buisness. There was no emotion or consideration from the selectmen. Buisness people watch and listen to what is going on in Wareham and don’t want to move here because the BOS treat business people like shit. They try to micromanage EVERTHING. I don’t know what Brenda sent in the email awhile back to ADM but when they showed up at the selectman’s meeting they were so pissed I thought they were going to stop the whole project.

I don’t how those two women on Maple Springs road and the BOS can sleep at night. Bryanne your family has been here forever and those two women have been here a minuscule amount of time. I wonder what they see when they look in the mirror, they have zero compassion.

There are many people working behind the scenes to help, but my heart goes out to Brock and his family. I know my family has enjoyed the park on a number of occasions and Brock has stopped by many times to chat. He was always very concerned and made sure the trucks didn't drive fast because their are kids in the neighborhood. To be put through the hell he has endured is just plain wrong. Two ladies who had nothing better to do and their friends on the BOS will certainly reap what they sow. Hopefully, something will work out, for Brock. People take a lesson from this, the Selectmen don't care about the people that built this town or the families that have provided so much of themselves to bring in tourist and industry.

This is a sad day for Wareham that these folks have lost (and the town has lost) an attraction that has been around for 100 years.  Thank you to the selectmen and their tin foil hat supporters for that.  These people are haters filled with nothing but hate.  They only destroy.  The word "create" is not in their vocabulary.  They are losers too incompetent to ever accomplish anything in their own lives and it makes them feel better to tear down the successes of others.  How sad they never realize if they were to ever take the time they spent on their hatred and actually put it to good use they would have their own successes.  They only destroy.  They do not create.

The selectmen should have fought tooth and nail to keep this park afloat.  It is an attraction that brings tourists and tourist dollars to Wareham.  How many tourists will be lost?  How many tax dollars will be lost?  How many jobs will be lost?  They had a duty as selectmen to not interfere with a public attraction that helps the town but they were blinded as they always are by personal interests.

When Mr Tucy offered to pay for the road repairs how can the selectmen sit there with a straight face and pretend like their actions were anything but a concentrated effort to run the man out of business?

Good luck to the Tucys.  The clowns that pretend to be selectmen don't reflect the rest of the townspeople.  With any luck the select-clowns will find that out come April.

April 2010 can't come fast enough.

The auction is scheduled for 12/17/09! No one is going to buy this land and nicely let it sit undeveloped.

Community Preservation funds....open space and recreation?   The bank won't wait.   MGL 61A implications here if the property ceases to be considered agricultural. Good luck to the Tucy family.  I wish you the best in this awful predicament.  Someone mentioned ADM talking to the bank?  Something helpful to the community/Tucys that was turned down?  ADM is also banking and real estate. Can the company help?  Community Development?  Don't we have any way to assist local businesses with a long history in the town?  Shouldn't that be a goal of our government?  If the auction is in a couple of weeks, this must have been ready to happen for months. Sad.

Are the MSR girls high-fiving Brenda?

The candidates I am going to vote for would never be a part of the mess on Maple Springs Road that contributed to the demise of this business.  They would have worked with all the parties concerned to compromise on the issues: trucks, road repair, whatever. In my opinion, this was ridiculous, vindictive, childish behavior!  We all watched it happen, live, on Tuesday nights.

Not really the smartest move, they get rid of some trucks, but now their neighborhood will probably have a thousand more people when the 40B developers come in.

I too am sorry to see this business fold. What is wrong with the bos? They should be working to keep business in town.

Tucy's
Harbor Watch Inn
Little Harbor/Red Farm B and B
Webster's Hall

Who is next?

Vendettas galore.  All of these business owners were treated horribly by the bos at their Tuesday night meetings.  I'm looking for bos candidates who will work with, not against, business owners or prospective business owners in town.

Businesses = tax revenues
Businesses = consumers shopping, using services, $$$$$$$$$$

Our current bos = Kopelman and Paige $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$  We should be spending our taxpayer dollars to bring money into the town, not spending it on frivolous lawsuits.

I've had enough. Take Back Wareham and make it a profitable tourist destination with some class.

Is there any way we can help the Tucy family out here?

We don't know the details of what is needed and, in fact, what has happened, business-wise.  I had no idea it was at this point.  Plymouth County?  Regional?  SRPEDD resources to advise? State level assistance?  There is obviously no help for Mr. Tucy from his local government.

Molly:

Slightly off topic:   May I suggest that you add to your list of business casualties, the number of restaurants that have gone under due to the liquor license debacle-such as ‘the Blues” café in Onset and the five (?) restaurants struggling to exist with a seasonal license.  When I tried to clarify the process for obtaining a waiver, I googled Massachusetts liquor license waivers.  At least five towns have obtained waivers since September, 2009.  There is a clear disconnect between the selectmen and the state reps-there should be a high priority on keeping these restaurants open.  Perhaps we need to bombard our state reps in January with pleas to move these waivers through the legislature.

On topic: What heartless bank auctions off family-owned property at Christmas time?

I still don’t understand how the Webster inn got the liquor license instead of the Stonebridge in Onset. The Webster is technically opening a new restaurant Stonebridge has waited for a license longer then the Webster Inn. It’s been a couple of months and the Webster inn still hasn’t opened

Webster Hall, now Piper Beau's, is now open for business..They were granted a license even though Stonebridge Bistro had been the establishment who had waited the longest for a year-round license..The Blues Cafe, passed over in favor of Salernos, closed their doors last year mainly do to the nfact that they didn't get a year-round..

Any coincedence that the Donahues ran a time for Sleepy at Salernos??

I don't understand the intricacies of the liquor licenses, but again, I say we are a community that should encourage tourist dollars and tourists love to eat out. How can a town like Falmouth have a gazillion bars/restaurants?  Can't something be done about this? I understand that the mall needed liquor licenses, but putting small business/restaurant owners out of business because of the lack of liquor licenses is not good for the town.

Maybe this is something the new board of selectmen can look into after April 10.

Take it back--Take Wareham Back.  We need a town planner.  We need a CEDA director that is working towards economic development (does anyone know what he has done so far?). We need a new building inspector and a new library director. We need a chief of police.

And to get back to this thread topic, we need a totally unbiased board of selectmen that will work WITH our business owners like the Tucy family rather than against them because a couple of campaign supporters.  Where do you think campers buy their groceries? Their gas? Miniature golf and water park? They visit Ice cream stands, restaurants, liquor stores, etc. etc. We are losing a lot more that a camp ground and a 100 year old business here.  And Brenda Eckstrom has been a leader in the demise of the Tucy family business.  Bruce Sauvageau, John Cronan, and Jane Donahue can be added to that list. Are these people leaders? Responsible fiscal managers? In my opinion, I say no. Let's not lose our focus. Time goes by quickly. April 10 will be here soon.
