I recently made up my mind to no longer read the Wareham Pravda. It's been better as far as my blood pressure, but after the latest "peek", I have no idea who these fools are trying to buffalo. Are they really this dumb, or are they just grasping at straws?

Slager and his pet monkey, Angel-Joe, both claim that one of the hate bloggers fried their hard drives by slipping them a virus. OOOOOkay! Angel-Joe claims he got the FBI involved. Whhhhew! and since Slager sent him HIS virus software, he hasn't had any problems. Are these people for real or are they just that stupid?

Anyone here really have the time or want to take the effort to hack their systems to send them a virus? I know I don't even know who Angel-Joe really is, but I'm pretty sure he isn't listed as Angel-joe in the phone book!  They even tried to tie in the Helicopter flying over the other day as "collecting information". We all know why the helicopter was up in the air, so they must really be missing star trek reruns or just got tired of watching Lord of the Rings...Geez

Is it any wonder this town is so messed up? The fools following Slager are lame enough to believe that nonsense. What are they going to do when Slager finally goes belly up?

I told Liz to offer them my services as a computer professional to check their hard drives and see what exactly happened to their hard drives. I'm guessing it's a porno overload, or a website that smacked them with a virus.

Another good reason why I should never go to the site again.

How can a computer virus fry a hard drive?

If I understand this correctly the worst that can happen is that it can corrupt your hard drive and force you to erase it and reload everything.

Of course it does sound a bit out on Yawkey Way to think one of us "hatebloggers" sent him a virus.

By the way, how could Robert Slager send Angel Joe his anti-virus software? I thought you could only load it on one computer unless you bought one specifically for use on several in your home or office. If he had an office copy for several computers and sent it to someone else he broke the agreement with the company and may have broken the law.

I had a hard drive literally fried once and it wasn't a virus, it was what was a problem with some poorly made counterfeit Taiwanese capacitors that popped spilling their guts into the computer. It was called Capacitor Plague and having this info got me a new computer even though Apple didn't want to admit it.

Not likely. I think it is just some nut case that thinks we hate bloggers are dangerou criminals that fry hard drives and the FBI flies around in helicopters to collect data on us.

Do they wear tin foil hats on their heads to keep the space alien mothership from reading their thoughts and transmitting them back to their home world?

Larry, is there anybody in there who knows anything at all about computer security?  This is what I do for a living, and from what you're telling us they're claims are....ridiculous?  impossible?  not sure what word i'm looking for here...

Sounds like they watched "Conspiracy Theory" a few too many times.

Warning! This is a parody of a parody!

Rip Dinkle reporting live from the computer virus center of the Hatebloggers/powerelite/recallcrew. I'm live with the 14 year old hacker responsible for skirting the computer security of Bobo and his 5 followers, and planting a really bitchin virus that fries the hard drive, dude. He claims his name is Paul Shooter and he just wants them to know he hates them too. If he had a baseball bat, he would smash their computers and then stand there with his hands on his hips and shout, "I am not an animal".

On a related note, the computer audit continues...

Rip Dinkle...over and out.

What about what I posted about his giving his anti-virus software to Angel Joe. I am quite sure this is a no-no? Tell me how this isn't a type of stealing?

urneighbor, it's possible that he's using a free edition of an antivirus software.  For example, I use a program called AVG which is free to download.  Some other software can be free to download, but then you have to pay to get the latest updates.  Without the full details of what he sent, and what licensing model that software uses, we can't confirm that anything illegal happened.

This is from last night on chat:

Sorry for the delay. Another computer virus attack on this computer. These folks are relentless. I am attacked twice a week every week. Once during Live Chat on Sunday night and again on Wednesday night during deadline. No danger to anyone here. The virus protection locked it down, but I had to reboot

Again, this is so sad. Does this guy actually believe his own lies? He is too pompous to realize he is visiting the wrong websites and blames it on others. I would be willing to bet he lies about everything!

Casual,
I'm a big fan of AVG. I've had better success with AVG than I ever did with McAfee or Norton.

Why can't he just admit we make fun of him and think he is about as important as Ant doodoo? Why would we hack his computer???? If we did hack his computer, wouldn't we at least get his email before we tossed his hard drive?

I used free AVG on my PC until I retired it - I run Macs without any anti-virus now.

The way it sounded (I didn't read the original) "and since Slager sent him HIS virus software" I didn't know whether he meant sent the link via email or snail mailed his actual software.

My hunch is that Slager never heard of AVG and is using Symantic or Norton.

We have AVG at work and I use it at home. The only virus issues we have had to deal with is when a person goes to myspace or a "free stuff" site. We've blocked both now.

WHAT AN IDIOT! So, not only is someone from the darkside frying his computer, but they do it at exactly the critical times he has to do his inane "business". From the time I first became aware of your existence, Bobo, to now. Your ridiculousness has steadily increased. I wish the Dow Jones rose with such certainty. Ass.

How funny is that? Yep, give Paul Shooter a baseball bat and he can fix your computer!

Does he ever say what happens when he thinks he has a virus?

My hunch is his cursor just freezes and he attribute that to his anti-virus locking it down (whatever that means)...

and the reboot (i.e. shutting it off and turning it on) fixes that.

That happened on my old Dell PC.
