I got an instant classic email from a reporter acquaintance late last night that boiled down to three things:

a.) I am a complete fucking idiot. I'm paraphrasing. My correspondent was more tactful.

b.) Reveal my source.

c.) Wareham is nuts beyond belief.

Those of you who know me know some thought went into last night's questions. I'd canvassed around town and entered that room with a list, a long list of unanswered questions, many reaching back years.

Realistically, I didn't expect any response, and as you all now know, I wasn't disappointed.

If I couldn't get answers, I calculated, I'd get a reaction to the demonizing character assassination that's destroyed our municipal government.

"Answer yes or no. Do you still beat your wife?"

To the surprise of no one, variations on that theme appear among never-ever-ask questions in every journalism school primer ever published. And never mind whether there's substance to the charge. There is.

I will not apologize. I do promise I won't do it again and will denounce anyone who does.

The shit sling stops here. Henceforth, any ad hominen attack on this site will get moved offline or deleted.

Bill:
I agree that the question was inappropriate, however, how many PRIVATE citizens have sat home and heard themselves be defamed on a Tuesday night. They are not there to defend themselves and any public protest they make quickly turns them into a library lobbyist or CBW secret agent.
While I agree that a level of decorum must be maintained at all times, I think that the lack of any accomplishments (unless one considers driving the town into bankruptcy is an accompishment), refusal to listen to an opposing view point, failure to maintain the transparency and fiscal responsibility that has been promised, and clear disregard for laws that inconvenience them are all signs that the moral integrity of a leader is open to questioning.
Just my opinion.

That is a good start Bill. I suspect it is difficult to deal with the personal attacks they have made against you, so you entitled to blow off steam, I just wish you would have asked him in the parking lot. I don't think he would have been as cordial.

Moral integrity is getting sparse around this town.   It's not the norm.  It's the exception.   I'm sad and going to bed.
