4TH OF JULY:
THE BOS SET THE DATE WITHOUT ADVANCED NOTICE FOR THE POLICE TO GET PROPER MANNING. THE PLYMOUTH COUNTY SHERRIFS WHICH USUALLY SUPPLY AROUND 20 MEN/WOMAN / EQUESTRIAN UNIT WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE BECAUSE THE BOS TOOK SO LONG AND SETTING A DATE FOR THE FIREWORKS. THE WAREHAM POLICE HAVE BEEN CUT SUMMER OFFICERS / BIKE UNITS WHICH USUALLY ADDS AROUND 15 EVERY PATROLS. WAY TO GO BOS. MY OPINION WE SHOULD HAVE THE FIREWORKS AT ALL. MOST TOWNS REALIZE THAT IT IS FINANCIALLY AND MORALLY IRRESPONSIBLE TO BLOW THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN THE SKY WHEN PEOPLE ARE LAID OFF AND PEOPLE TAKING FURLOUGH DAYS.
CAPE VERDEAN FESTIVAL:
LETS SEE WHAT WE GOT HERE. SWEET BRUCIE CLAIMS IT IS A FAMILY EVENT AND WILL NOT HIRE THE POLICE OFFICERS FOR DETAILS IN THE NUMBERS IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN. ALSO IN THEIR GREAT WISDOM THE BARS WILL REMAIN OPEN CONTRARY TO THE PAST WHEN BARS SHUT DOWN AT SIX FOR TWO HOURS AND THEN REOPEN. IT CAN BE SHOWN IM SURE THROUGH POLICE LOGS THAT THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL INCIDENTS DURING THE FESTIVAL WHICH INCLUDES NEAR RIOTS, FIGHTS, STABBINGS, PEOPLE THROWN THROUGH PLATE GLASS WINDOWS. YEAH I GUESS BRUCIE REALLY CARES ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE OFFICERS AND TO THE PUBLIC. LETS SPEND THOUSANDS ON SEEING WHO IS BLOGGING AGAINST HIM AND LETS SAVE THE MONEY ON POLICE PROTECTION AND PUBLIC SAFETY. GOT TO LOVE THIS BOS. PROGRESS I BELIEVE RAGBOY IS SAYING THIS IS

There is no way I will step foot in Onset this summer if there are no summer/bike officers!!!! GOOD LUCK to the full time officers! The WPD is already over worked dealing with calls for service in that area can you imagine the circus it will be come 4th of July and then during the rest of the events that are planned! I hope the BOS knows what it is doing....or should I say The BOS knows exactly what its doing by this little stunt!!!

All I can say is liabilility!!! The Cape Verdean festival does not create many crime problems during the day but it does create a huge traffic and parking nightmare. After the festival is over a bunch of gang bangers from New Bedford, Providence, Brockton, and Boston decend on Onset. Five years ago it was an all out melee and the outnumbered police were asking for help from all surounding towns and the state police. After that year the police decided they would never get caught with their pants down again and brought in enough people to deal with whatever may happen. Now Bruce wants to undue all of this? I pray that nothing bad happens but if someone is killed becuase there was not enough of a show of force to deter violent crime then the family of the victim will have a strong case for a wrongful death lawsuit against the town.

The BOS could give a rip about Onset. Onset what is Onset? Oh ya it's that part of town where most events are held, where most tourist are attracted, where many residents pay taxes and only reside or use their property a few months a year but pay full taxes.
Having no law enforcement in the busiest time of the year...now that's progress Bruce and Slager can be proud of.
As word gets out people will just stay on 495/25 and bypass the chaos all together.
Revenue from the summer visitors will go down. People will be afraid to come here.
What am I saying we still have the Crime Watch folks, they advertise how crime ridden the town is with their office on our Main St. Maybe they will protect us.
And most people are talking about recalls over a computer audit? That computer stuff is the least of our problems!!
How about:
Public Safety
Unemployment
No economic development
Put my name on a sign
