There's something of a conceited sting to this, an insult from our more affluent neighbors east, west and south...
Tri-town To Wareham:
Drop Dead!
But what the hell, she's right.
Tri-town leaders should use Wareham’s experience of what not to do when making the hard decision on budget cuts. Libraries are places of learning and refuge for a good many people. Closing library doors makes a community far less friendly and livable. I spent many hours as a child sitting among the stacks at the Earl W. Brydges Library in Niagara Falls, N.Y., voraciously reading anything of interest. I felt safe there. The librarians were like kindly aunts to me. They nurtured my longing for learning and helped me to make decisions that would set the course of my life. I would hate to think today’s children don’t have the same opportunity that many of us did. I hope Tri-town officials think about that before they go in with their budget scalpels.
