I said I was going to get back to this, but I wanted to wait until it was too late for he ragman to actually do anything about it.

Now that the slobserver is 75 cents an issue, many new issues are at foot, first off is the fact that the publication is now a federally regulated publication. You can give your opinion away, but when you ask people to pay for it you have to follow the law. The ragman is apparently unaware of this as he never registered his publication with the proper agency, please note I'm not saying who that is as it is funnier to know he has no clue what he is supposed to be doing. So, 2008 is gone, and so is the thirty day grace period to properly register, too sad.

That being said, I wonder if bobbie is going to claim the income he received from the sale of said publication. You guessed it, this too is regulated by federal law, oh, and in case you were wondering, it's public record. So if bob says he sold 4,000 copies a week, he needs to file the proper forms to claim the $3,000 a week in collections.

And another thing, did anyone else notice that the rag charges $32 a year for a subscription and keeps claiming they will donate $10 to this or that with each subscription? So at $22 a year that's roughly 42 and a half cents a week. Can anyone tell me how the subscriptions are being mailed at that rate? A single issue weighs more than an ounce and is too big to be regular mail. Best case he's paying 59 cents to 79 cents a week, so where's the savings in that? Sell subscriptions to raise money and the subscriptions cost more to send out then you collect, good business decision there.

That brings us to truth in advertising. The ragman always boasted printing 4,000 copies a week of the rag, but wait, that was when it was free. I imagine now that he's not selling any he has cut back on printing that many to save on renting a dumpster to put them all in. So he's saving money there too, great idea! But wait, doesn't someone get screwed in this equation? Oh yes, his advertisers. Does anyone think that bobbo is being truthful when selling ads? If one of his advertisers asked "how many issues do you sell each week?" what do you think the answer is, and how can he prove it, he never files the paperwork with the fed?

If I were to say anything to an advertiser it would be "buyer beware" as you know the exposer that any advertiser is getting is nothing these days as no one is buying copies and the ragman doesn't even file the proper paperwork. Someone should put that man in jail for say 1-5 years per violation and/or $100,000 fine.

Wonderful information flox.  Brilliant!

On a side note, I don't remember if I read it here or somewhere else, but "according to sources," ads have run in that paper even though people asked to have them removed.  Even though they didn't pay for them to continue.

Is that a deceptive business practice?  Make it look like you have more advertisers than you really do to sell more ads.
