Chief Joyce called Tuesday to tell me the day after I filed assault charges against the Town Moderator, Mr. Donahue called him to insist I exited the meeting soon after our little dust up and attempted to break into his house. He'd seen me earlier, Tom Joyce reports, casing the place from his second story office window.
John Donahue was considerably rattled when Joyce reassured him how unlikely that was, as I was sitting next to him throughout the meeting. I did leave my knapsack and walk downstairs to take a leak for a 5 minute absence.
Sure enough, when I peddled by that afternoon, there John was, glaring down at me. I'd never noticed before but he must sit next to that window all day long, while Jane's at work. Should shame me, I suppose, but my inner asshole could not resist flipping off that over-bearing, paranoid pantload and laughing all the way home.
At Town Meeting later that evening, you may recall, Mr. Donahue asked the Chief from the High School podium to report for detention after the meeting. Hearing that, I immediately turned to Tom, once again sitting nearby, and groaned, "Oh, shit."
Sadly, I was right. Mr. Donahue insisted, based on his years of legal training, that looking someone in the eye and giving them the middle finger is illegal and actionable, haranguing the Chief for 15 minutes. In weary disgust, Tom promised to send over an officer to take needledick's statement.
You should all have an opportunity at Town Meeting on Monday to end this idiocy once and for all.

Isn't Ben Donahue the son of Marilyn Donahue, a board member for the Citizens for a Better Wareham? Didn't another board member of the CBW insert an article that would strip current Town Moderator of his authority because he is married to a selectman? If that article passes, would that mean Ben Donahue becomes the new Town Moderator midway through Monday's meeting, when the rest of the CBW petition articles come up for a vote? Wow. The CBW would get its very own Town Moderator without the rest of the town voting for it. Shrewd.

Excuse me? The rest of the Town DID vote for the Deputy Moderator. Rag Man is already shitting on the kid, and doesn't even know a thing about him. What a fucking low-life.

The Ragman is already whining that this was a power elite plot...I don't know about you all, but this came as a surprise to me and to others I talked to.
A good surprise though. The Courier says he's about to graduate from Brown with a double major in Economics and History. Sounds like a pretty smart guy.
He's going to graduate from Brown. Dare I dream it? A Wareham politician who actually gets a day job...oh, oh God, sorry, I'm going to faint, I thought I'd see a leprechaun ride a unicorn first.

Phooey. John's world is shrinking fast and he's scared. I represent everything he fears and he's desperate to believe he still has enough suck to get rid of me. Worse, we live in the same fishbowl less than a block apart, and cross paths every day.
Two weeks ago, Friday, April 24, three days before Town Meeting. I arrive for a scheduled appointment at a Main Street optometrist for an eye exam, and my first pair of old fart glasses. Tiny waiting room in the house next door to where I was spawned and, moments later, in walks John. "Hello, John." Won't look at me, won't say a word. "Goodbye, John." Same deal.
This is why most of our cops, doctors, lawyers and reporters live elsewhere, if they possibly can. And if they can't, they send their kids to school elsewhere.
I don't want to hurt John Donahue. I do wish for Wareham's sake he'd find another hobby.

BillW. I love how you are not intimidated by the threats of the power mongers. You take all of their abuse with a grain of salt. I love that they can't push you around.
