could anyone who got this email please respond?.?

I wondered about that and didn't respond since serious was listed as having 0 posts.

I'd respond to someone I knew from numerous other postings and trusted with my email address.

But this was too iffy to take a chance on, even with a PM response.

Seemed harmless to me, don't put too much "conspriracy theory" into it.  Take it for what it was.

If this "serious" wants to know the answers to the questions in the email, first, many have been addressed and speculated on here. Second, there was nothing in the email that couldn't have been posted here.

Some of us have email contact enabled here, which means we can be sent an email without the sender getting our email address. However, if we reply to the email they get our address.

This could be a way to get our emails for some nefarious purpose, or it could be someone who has lurked here and just wants the information they ask for.

If it's the later I suggest they simply pose their questions here.

LIZda..

that is important information. Obvious to you and most of us but it bears repeating just in case a few of us don't realize it, since you got the message on another email than the one from this website you have every reason to suspect something is amiss.

You were wise to post this thread. In similar situations we all should do this.

(The only other reason the email could have come to your personal email is if you signed on here with an account like GMail and had it configured to forward to your home email account. You can test this by emailing from this site to yourself and see how it comes in.)

BTW: We not only can use the BBCode (link below in yellow) but the size code which isn't listed using the word size=(any number- here it is 30) surrounded by brackets (lower case after the P on the keyboard) with a  /size] at the end.

Note that whenever you use the BB codes you must close the instruction so, for example italics would end with /i surrounded by brackets.

thank youur.. i agree with your point about forwarding email..BUT that is NOT true in my case there is only 1 way "SERIOUS" got the email they did and it has NOTHING  to do with this site at all..i have covered all angles. loopholes, and alternate avenues... "SERIOUS" did not email me thru this site no matter what they claim...

Everybody heed LIZda's warning...

Unless and until "serious" provides a satisfactory explanation we should assume the worst intentions.

Note that if you look at View > Long Headers on the email you may see what is on mine, which is

Is there some reason why we're not talking about the content of the e-mail?  Fears about the sender's intentions aside, I actually went and viewed that particular "item" and the connection was actually pretty hysterical and had me laughing as I watched it, especially whenever that particular word was mentioned. He might have a point.

While still protecting the sender as requested, I have to put a stop to this speculation...

1. BillW is affiliated with the high-street.org site, but did not send the email. Anyone affiliated with bill is fine with me.

2. I (commonsense) can read IP Addresses here (along with a few others). Serious may be new yesterday, but they've been a regular longer that most of you. No, it's not me.

I'm guessing they didn't want to use their regular login because of the nature of the letter. I can assure you they voiced this concern before, but people blew them off, which is why they used a different name.

Take it for what it is, a letter of concern, and let it rest.

common if the sender of the "SERIOUS" email would be TRUTHFUL as to how they got my email maybe then i would listen with interest. they have lied to me twice already and are losing any shred of respect and credability by not being TRUTHFUL.. i am open minded and will listen but PLEASE dont lie to me.. or try to bs me..

I have been in communication with enough people that I trust on this site that I can truthfully say that everything is OK.
The person who sent the e-mail has been ignored in the past for concerns that he had.
I hope that he has learned a lesson, and with the times the way they are, just forget about the concept of sending out e-mails that cause concern and worry among many here.
There are brilliant people on this site, UR, Cas, etc. that know more about Internet and computer technology than I will ever have the intellect to understand.
But, as we are all aware, "cookies" and "worms" are not a figment of our imaginations.
That's why I NEVER open an e-mail that I am suspicious of.
In this case, though, to re-iterate, it's OK.

I have also now communicated with the writer.
ONE OF US!!
I can say that he is very sorry for the confusion.
When I say one of us, you know what I mean.
Very respected.
Very well liked.
And, no, not who you think.

apologize, and post the message here and I for one will try to address the questions in the email.

It;s really not about that.
It is his concern for someone and their family.
That's all.

I opened it...and after scratching my head for a half hour, answered it, thinking that whoever the writer was , there was justification for his concern  for the family in Halifax. I've always feared  that our boy might  "go postal" , and the situation he has created for himself puts him under stresses that are "off the chart". Giving the HPD a "heads up" might be a good idea. The more I think about it the more I feel that perhaps we should  all "back off" for a while and keep our fingers crossed .
