Why isn't it called a BOS meeting? Are they really going to have a meeting telephonically? Is that legal in Mass.? Does any other Town or City do that?

WTF?

I don't believe this can possibly be legal.

According to accounts, the TA said that a quorum had to be present physically, and if need be, an absentee Selectman could communicate, discuss and vote, telephonically, telepathically, via a Shaman, or through Skype, or whatever.

BULLSHIT!

Prove it before the Town is sued by someone "wronged" during a meeting, or a license is issued that will be fought, or a myriad of other things that can go wrong that will be appealed through the Courts.

I think it is safer to walk on salt water ice in April.

I caught enough of the Selectmen's first discussion of remote attendance on 2013-07-30 to hear Steve Holmes flog the proposal by comparing the Town of Wareham to a multimillion business that should act like one. By extension, I assume Holmes is comparing Selectmen to board directors of a company with no competition, immunity from prosecution, precious few stockholders and us, its captive customers.

I excerpted the list above from the posted agenda.
