i just want to comment on the proposal about the homeless shelter by ta sanguinett.  god knows at this time of year charity is much needed. apparently not to be outdone selectperson eckstrom suggested the town hall cafeteria.  i agree that this is an excellent idea and an ideal place.

i am just afraid that she will use her political influence to reserve a choice spot.

This Also Concerns Me Oneear. I Also Worry About Liz Looking At The Plentiful Parking Spaces Around The Shelter. Her Cousin Makes Her Park On Her Front Lawn Now And Is Banned From Using The Driveway So She Just Might Consider The Shelter. I Dont Think It Would Be Fair Though Since She Would Take Up 4 Bed Spaces.

Wait a few months and that mall they were so anxious to build will have more vacant white elephants than Wareham will know how to manage.

The old High School? I dunno. Seriously, if Eckstrom suggested it, rest assured and sleep easy, there is a catch.

Oh my goodness.  Nice picture.  Of course it brings an immediate image to my mind, but I can't because I don't have a front picture of the cat lady...and i don't think I want to be mean either.  Although it is a cute picture.

Well, these clowns will all benefit from a homeless shelter in the town hall cafeteria.  The Brockton Broad, sure, because she's apparently going bankrupt financially (as opposed to bankrupt morally for the past many years).

Mr. Bigmouth might just find it convenient to live in town hall because without a car, that'd just be a long walk.

If the Ragman's landlord gives him the old heave ho at of his office, he can set up shop in the cafeteria.  What convenience!  Mr. Bigmouth and the Brockton broad could just sit down and actually type the news directly into the Rag, rather than just phone it in to the Ragman!

The Catlady might move in and just let the cats have her two houses...oh wait, her cousins' two houses.

On a serious note though, helping the homeless and giving them a place to go on cold nights is a decent and humanitarian thing to do.  I just hope these clowns do this right and don't screw it up so that the town ends up with major liability if something goes wrong.  Something tells me that these yahoos don't have the brains to pull it off.

I notice that the Cat lady wrote it'd be ok to keep the cafeteria at 50 degrees, because when you're homeless, that's even better than 20 degrees.

Notice that the Cat lady and her ilk are the people that claim to be the champions of the impoverished, and yet she's basically saying "Let's save on the heat, so what?   They're bums!  They should be glad to have it!"

I think we can afford to turn the thermostat up a little on cold nights if people are going to be brought in.  If the selectmen just sacrifice one call to Kopelman and Paige a week to check to see how all their useless personal vendetta lawsuits are going, then there'd be enough for the extra heat.

They're incompetent managers, every last one, dictating policy from the top down.  Want a list of all the town depts they've fucked? Everything they touch turns to shit.

We are about to see homelessness on a scale few alive remember.

Our fuckwit Selectmen have had years to help transient bog people but now they face getting kicked to curb themselves, they've found religion? Dollars to donuts, Brenda's already calculating federal grants and voting patronage from those getting 3 hots and a flop.

Forgive me if that last post seems harsh, Hamm, but looked for a moment like you were tip-toeing to the dark side.

Nah, these clowns are the ones on the dark side.  For years, they've promoted themselves by saying they're champions of the poor, while the people in office before were just greedy bastards that were mean to the poor.

I suppose they took on this project after mounting criticism of people asking "Well what have you clowns done for the poor in your time here?"

A few years ago, we had a fully funded library that people could use to look for jobs and further their education to get a better job, we had a Council on Aging with a good director that helped seniors in need, we had a recreation department that promoted the town through fun activities, we had a police station planning committee and people who recognized that we need a better police station and town officials who realized we need more cops on the street, we had a town planner, a CEDA director, and the list goes on and on.

Pretty much all we have now is those 5 incompetent select-boobs.

The town is too poor to get all these services back, they say.  Did you feel that the town is too poor the last time you paid your property tax bill?  MAYBE IF THEY EVER PAID THEIR PROPERTY TAX BILLS THEY'D KNOW HOW MUCH THE TOWN IS ACTUALLY TAKING IN!!!

The "Power Elite" thing has always been a scam.  If you disagree with them, then you must hate the poor.  Why would someone hate the poor?  Our side isn't hating on the poor.  Our side kept a full slate of town services running to help all people, including the poor.  Their side just uses them as political pawns.

These people wanted the power, told us give them the power and they'd use it to make the town better.  When you ask them why the town is worse, they just give the same lame excuse - they blame it on people who use to have the power - oh, they're working against them now in a shadow power elite government.  The selectmen really don't have any power, the "power elite" really runs the town - what a ridiculous lame excuse.

Nothing is ever their fault.  The buck never stops with them.

They don't care about poor people or anyone else.  They care about whatever will get them elected.  They've squandered every single last opportunity to help the town by using their power for personal gain and to attack those who disagree with them.

They cannot point to one single solitary thing they've done in their time that has helped anyone.  Try asking them sometime.

"Well, it takes a long time to fix things because the people from before, and uhhh...."

As long as the voters get taken in by that lame excuse, this town will never recover.  And with the damage and division they've caused, it will take a long time to fix.

I actually think the mall was a great addition to the community, but I think that's the beauty about civilized discussions.  People can think x, others can think y...in a working democracy, the people decide and life goes on.  Sometimes the x people win, sometimes the y people win...if we're all respectful to one another, no reason why we all can't disagree and yet at the end of the day, still be able to go out for the theoretical beer.

The gangsters that run the town, on the other hand, are a different story.  Disagree with them at your own peril...they say you better think X, and if you disagree, then they'll go after you.  They don't leave it up to the people to decide, they ram what they want down the people's throats.  It's sickening.
